Hi guys firstly I'm new to the site so sorry if this is in the wrong section. I purchased a 116D yesterday on a 13 plate, car has only done 25k and drove fine on test drive.

unfortunatly later in the day I started to notice what I thought was a gearbox issue, the gearstick was shaking. The car then at low speed cut out completely. I'm assuming the shaking on the gearstick is due to it dropping in revs on gearchanges and nearly stalling. It doesn't seem to idle properly but not all the time? Very odd to say it's only done 25k

Obvious question DarrenĀ

Did you buy from a dealer or private ? If through a Dealer then either make them fix it or get your money back, if Private then I would still contact the seller to see if they would help.

I may be wrong (Not a Diesel driver I have a son who is) as your car has low miles the problem could be EGR or DPF related short journeys tend to get them clogged with soot as there isn't enough heat to regenerate the DPF. If your EGR has swirl flaps they to could be sooted up.

Fingers crossed someone with more diesel knowledge will be along to help

Hi Darren...welcome to the Club

As Greydog has already mentioned, it sounds like the EGR or DPF (or both) are clogged as the car is very low mileage for the year, suggesting that it has been smoked around town locally and needs cleaning out.

I would advise contacting someone like Terraclean who can sort that out for you.

Let us know how you get on with it

Cheers Ā Trevor
