i have just bought a 2003 e46 touring , the radio reception is very poor the rear washer wiper does not work and the rear window does not unlock, someone told me the aerial is in the boot spoiler .

can anyone shed any light please ? and also which side is the wiring for these items on on the tailgate as there is cabling both sides

It's the offside wiring loom where it runs from body to tailgate the constant flexing slowly breaks the wiring, and yes the aerial receiver is under the spoiler, if u roll back the rubber sleeve u should see it I normally just solder the wires back together as a new look is a mare of a job

The problem with soldering is it makes the repaired wire brittle & the "mend" will not last long.

Better to run a fresh wire (about 8-10 inches long) & make your solder connection inside the tailgate & inside the vehicle at the other end, that way the new wire takes all the bending & should last years.

i have had a look at the wiring an cannot see any breaks can anyone she any more light on this please , ie which wires are the ones for aerial
