  9. Hi James PDC = Park Distance Control that's the sensors in the bumpers your screen normally shows a graphic of the car with Front and Rear warnings If there is no camera fitted you will probably need the Camera Control unit Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box then look at the Distance systems section that should help you understand what's needed plus the part numbers then search the internet for the bits you need. Often the internet will help with some "How Too's" as well normally the wiring and plugs are there already just taped up so fitting will be plugging in and fitting fuses if needed plus registering/programming the new unit to your chassis/car. That's the bit where you will probably need the help of someone who has access to a BMW capable Diagnostic program if you don't have one yourself. Dave
  10. Hi Dave, PDC? = Parking detection control?? As far I know there wasn't a camera as it's fitted with sensors but my last car has a camera which I found useful especially when hitching, if the sensors are fitted will that mean I'll have a PDC? If so where will I find it? If not which module will I need and any idea where I'd go to get one. Thanks for the assistance James
  11. Morning James Welcome to the Forum If your car originally had a camera fitted and the one you have purchased is correct for your car it should be straight forward. I have read that sometimes the trunk operating button needs changing (I have never done the job so can't comment) If your car originally had the acoustic PDC with an image on the screen you will need control unit for the back up camera, that is what the camera plugs into. Then that module will need programming to the car so the screen receives the images. Hope this helps Dave
  12. Morning Jon Welcome to the Forum That doesn't sound good ☹️ First thoughts are replace the connector, three methods (1) Buy a new connector (2) Buy a replacement connector from a BMW Dismantler (3) Replace the seat loom completely Start by looking at www.realoem.com if you haven't used it before put the last seven digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model the search for what you need. For options 1 & 2 you will need a wiring diagram Once repairs are complete you will need someone with a BMW capable diagnostic program so that after all fuses and relay's have been checked any Faults/errors can be noted and cleared. Then you should be good to go Good Luck Dave

  18. Hello, I have a 2009 1 series coupe and I'm having problems with the front seats especially the nearside. Someone has pulled a connector apart under the seat and neither seat has seat belt clips or pre tensioners. Does anyone have any ideas

  21. Morning Vinman Welcome to the Forum I have never been a fan of Apple products personally but you can get Carplay I have never done this but as far as I understand you can add Carplay by (a) Getting a BMW Dealer to activate it through their software ( No idea of cost ) (b) A local BMW Specialist may well have the software to do it worth a search (again there will be a cost) (c) I have read that certain models you can upgrade using a USB Dongle (check Ebay) If it were mine I would find a Local BMW Specialist who can help there is a Register of BMW Specialists an internet search should find one close by Hope this helps Dave

  23. New to us, 2018 X3, when we purchased this car used from a Toyota dealer they said the car had apple car play, Well it doesn’t, but I guess there are after market modules you can add which are plug and play. Could someone recommend a unit that works well and is reliable. My wife who likes the car but wants me to dump it if she can’t have apple car play. Could you help me out.

  25. Hello. I have a 2017 X3 3.5XI with the M-sport package which has 55,000miles on the clock. My BMW dealer recommends I change both front/rear diff and the transfer case fluids. I only drive 3000 miles a year in this vehicle now I'm semi retired. I'm not experiencing any problems with any of these components; gear changes/all wheel drive functions are still smooth and quiet; no vibration etc. What are your recommendations on flushing/replacing fluids/oil based on vehicle age and the amount of use they get based on your own experiences? Thank you. Moman

  29. Hi Morgan I manged the last one without removing the Actuator it's a fiddle but doable as you are aware the cable just clips on. Maybe worth checking online to see if any how to Videos are available I guess we know what your doing this weekend 🤣 Dave

  32. Morning, Thanks for that. I think I’ve found the part. Do you have to remove the actuator to fit the outer latch cable or can it be fitted with just removing the handle mechanism? Thanks, Morgan
  33. Morning Morgan Attached is a Diagram from www.realoem.com the part number you need is 51217317560 No 8 on the drawing, if you aren't aware put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model The last I brought was around £20 the advice I would give is don't buy a second user recycled one to save money Hope this is helpful Dave
  34. Hi Dave, thanks for that and it makes a lot of sense. I have only replaced the internal latch cable, the one that runs from the internal door handle and hooks onto the actuator latch. Do you have a link for the other latch cable/part I can buy? Thanks, Morgan
  35. Hi Morgan Welcome to the Forum You say you have replaced the Latch cable ? There are two one between the outer door handle and one for the inner door handle I have seen 2 instances of the cable that goes between the Outer door handle and the actuator sticking if the actuator lever it is attached to cant fully return to it's stop the Actuator won't release. I tried removing the cable and lubricating it and the result was short term success (lasted a few days and stuck again) The only solution was a new cable in both instances. I found it first time as the door card was off and I put my hand behind the actuator and pushed the inside lever down, "click" Hey Presto internal handle worked door open. Close door open door using outer handle then close door neither handle worked again Hope this helps Dave

  37. Hi, I’m hoping someone can help as I’m at my wits end. I have a E70 2010 M Sport. The driver door only intermittently works. The latch handle inside will not open the door, I can hear it operating inside the door car. The exterior handle will not open the door. I have replaced the actuator, the latch cable and that still did not solve the problem. I looked at the electrics and it appeared the wiring to the connector socket into the actuator looked a little damaged, replaced this part of the wiring harness. This has not fixed the problem and I am out of ideas. I usually give the door card a good few whacks and then door will then release. Am I unlucky and could the new actuator I installed be faulty or should I be looking more at the electrics?? Can anyone help?? Thank you
  38. Hi John Welcome to the Forum As far as I recall the sensor is on the engine cover over the front of the Inlet Camshaft Here is an excerpt from the Engine repair manual 9.2.2. Camshaft sensor The N47TU camshaft sensor operates according to the Hall principle as with all BMW engines. The camshaft sensor is installed on the cylinder head cover above the intake camshaft. A camshaft sensor trigger wheel is mounted on the intake camshaft for this purpose. The Digital Diesel Electronics uses the camshaft sensor to detect whether the 1st cylinder is in the compression phase or the exhaust phase. This assignment cannot be made from the crankshaft position. Assignment is necessary so that fuel injection can be regulated accordingly. The DDE supplies the sensor with 5V and ground. The sensor supplies a digital signal via the signal line to the DDE. A special pattern allows emergency operation if the crankshaft sensor fails. The resolution of the camshaft sensor signal is, however, too inaccurate to replace the crankshaft sensor during normal operation. Hope this helps Dave
  39. Hi doe s anyone know where the camshaft sensor is on bmw 1 series f20 n47 2013?

  41. Thanks for the quick response Dave. Just started my journey with this F31 had an E46 quote some years ago. Hope I dont regret it. May just take a gamble with some so called oem msport compatible ones. Cheers Dave
  42. Morning Dave Welcome to the Forum As with the OP it would be a bit of a gamble to see if the fit, the only way would be "trial and error" by offering them up to see how the mountings line up. May be contact some of the BMW specialist dismantlers to see if that would keep cost down Dave
  43. Morning Paul Fuel Filter (if not already covered) is my only thought then a general check around Dave
