  2. Hi Rick If you look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your Model Then search the Audio section you will find small exploded drawings showing where speakers are for each system. Get the part numbers for the HK stuff then search the internet for the best prices and supply. You could get all the HK stuff and AMP and swap them yourself make sure the under seat speakers are there and working then add a sub if you need it May not be as costly as you think Dave

  4. Thank you for your help. The car has a big standard speaker setup. It isn’t good. The HK system normally has badges and identifiers but the car has no such markings. im going to fit a sub in the cavity in the boot, some decent mid range in the doors then some tweeters in the door pillars. The job now is to find someone who can do the job properly and not charge a fortune
  5. Morning Rick Harman Kardon were the top of the OEM line so a starting point is use a Vin Decoder to check what was fitted at build S676A is Hifi S674A is Harman Kardon Next check that all speakers are working including the central base speakers under the front seats. It isn't unusual for door speakers to fail particularly if there has been water ingress. If everything is working but is standard Hifi an upgrade to HK components may give what you want (Speakers Amp etc) If it is already HK then your in the hands of the aftermarket Audio specialists Hope this Helps Dave

  7. OK checked ISTA WIS (Workshop Information System) and spoke with an ex neighbour who works for BMW ISTA first there is nothing to indicate the filter housing should be changed at intervals. There is a Note to say the filter should be inserted into the filter body then the housing screwed by hand into position. If the filter is inserted in the housing there is a danger it can be cross threaded and the housing damaged do not overtighten My ex neighbour says it was a common mistake putting the filter into the housing and tightening that is where they were cracked Dave
  8. Hi I am looking to improve the performnce of the stereo in my X1 It seems to havr the bog standard line fit speakers fitted and I'd like to change those for something better Also there is plenty of room in the space under the floor of the boot. Has anyone done anything like this? Any hints or tips? Fankoo
  9. Morning Paul The Filter assembly on my 4.6is is original (car is 22 years old) I have not been aware of changing the Filter assembly as part of a service routine. Later today I will fire up ISTA on my garage laptop and check all the Workshop Instructions then let you know Dave

  11. HI, havnig been very nearly caught out due to a failure of the holder - holder cracked but only on start up. I am trying to educate myself on when they should be changed. Is this a once a year or once every 3 years or once each 10000 miles etc. Is there a recommendation?
  12. ah, obviously the foot spa optional extra wasn't installed correctly. Did you find the cause? Water is a sod, I had a slight leak into my wheel well (about an egg cup full). Tried it out and kept an eye on it, it never has so far come back and I never did find the cause. My current working theroy is that it may have been when BMW wet vacced the carpet before sale. I know it sound rather rudimentary but you could try taping paper towel around the footwell above the waterline, that would at least give you an idea of where it's coming from if it's coming from the sides. If its holding that much water then I would'nt have thought it would be leaking from underneath as surely it would drain away. Is the carpet in the front dry? Door seal on correctly? My old golf, I had slightly moved the door seal and it was suprising how much water did get through. Do you have any drain holes somewhere near the boot hinge?
  13. Morning Larry All the under tray covers from memory but the job was achieved from under the dash. I took out the drivers seat to get more room (disconnect the battery) but if your young and bendy you may be able to get way without removing the seat 🤣 Check the internet for any how too video's 1 2 3 4 series are all very similar. One of the best bits of modern phones is being able to take pictures of how things fit and where they go that will help when putting stuff back If you know anyone with a copy of INPA/ISTA (BMW Diagnostics) it includes TIS (technical Information) and WIS (Workshop Information) which obviously helps knowing how a dealer would go about it Dave Just found this picture shows how the spring fits (this from a friends pic collection Hope it helps
  14. I have a 97 IL available for sale. 160000M. Needs some work such as heater hose. Disk changer is inop. Most pixels are out. Thought I would post here for guys who might be interested.
  15. Dave, Thanks so much. I see the spring in the parts diagram. Do you know if any part of the dash had to be removed? Thanks again Larry
  16. morning suspension on hold as I've had lurgy , intercooler has arrived so attacking it Saturday as long as amy (rain storm) doesn't show her face , sorry when you rev car n/s pipe expands but air sounds loud from n/s front. thanks for all info and will check on realoem cheers j
  17. Welcome only one thing to Add to Stu's post " ENJOY" oh and hide your license 😅 Dave
  18. Morning Larry Welcome to the Forum That must make for and interesting drive 😅 135i's are pretty lively so knowing which way it's pointing is a must Take a look at www.realoem,com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model, then check the Steering section you should find a section for steering column adjustment A friend of one of our sons had a similar issue with his 1 series unfortunately you have to get under the dash to fix it ( it helps to be young and bendy). Look at the small exploded drawing his problem was the spring had broken he managed to get one from the local Dealer (cost him £15 iirc) after that it was a simple fix. Just a Faff to get at Dave
  19. Evening sir! Welcome to the world of bmw…. It’s addictive! we are a friendly bunch here so ask away and don’t be shy on the pictures of the lovely car!
  20. Hi all, I'm new to both the club and BMW ownership having just bought my first of the marque. Looking forward to the experience of owning such a capable car and also the benefits of being a part of an owners club where you tend to find the best in open and honest conversation about the good, the bad and the ugly of car ownership. The car I have is a 2018 335d Touring in what Ive been reliably told is Marlborough Red. A 1 owner car from new covering just over 67k miles when I bought it only 3 weeks ago. Full BMW service history including MOT's and even wiper blade changes. I'd spent around 7 months searching for the right car so patience paid off I feel. It was specified with most of the right factory options including digital dash, HUD, memory seats and Pro Nav. It was even de-badged, something which I didn't realise was an option?! it doesn't have adaptive dampers though which I initially thought would irritate, but I've quickly learned that the car is beautifully damped in standard form regardless. The car isn't completely standard either with some subtle changes made to it. It has Eibach lowering springs (which is where I appreciate just how good the standard dampers are), wheel spacers, Rohana 20 inch black alloys on Michelin PS4S tyres and what I think you would call a stage 1+ ECU and gearbox remap to 404.5bhp and 746nm of torque. The net result is something which I know all of you will already know. I get it too now. The car is just about the most complete thing I've owned and I love it. They really are as good as everyone says they are. My job involves a lot of time away travelling but knowing`I have that to arrive back to in the UK makes me very keen to get plenty of miles under my belt! I've only taken a few photos so far but will get much better quality pictures uploaded when I can get around to taking them. I'm looking forward to picking your much more experienced brains about the good and bad bits of ownership. Thanks all! Coxy
  21. The steering column tilt/extend lock will not lock in place. I can hold the lock lever and the column will lock but as soon as I release the lever it goes to unlock position. This leaves the steering wheel in float mode (up and down, in and out). Any suggestions on how to access this mechanism is appreciated.
  22. Morning Chris Don't run the pump the washer fluid has to go somewhere 😅 And at the moment it isn't on the back window Dave
  23. Earlier
  24. Morning Jerry Check www.realoem.com the small exploded drawings can really help understand where things are and how they fit. Make sure parts swapped are correct, also check the intercooler I have seen 2 that were full of oil and had split Don't just check the boost side check all the vacuum lines as well it doesn't take much to upset smooth running How did you get on with the suspension refurb Dave
  25. evening car playing up friend listened to car said air leak when I rev ,no boost could be causing juddering ,I've just changed short boost pipe and air intake breather pipe it sounds worst ,looks like I'm on it again in morning any pointers cheers j

  27. Hi Chris Welcome to the Forum Sorry can't open your Video However if you check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then check the vehicle electrical system section it shows the rear wiper assembly complete with Spray Nozzle You will also see all the part numbers if you need to buy one you should find it under the rear spoiler above the back window I believe Good luck Dave
  28. Hi all, Ive just fitted a new rear washer pump which is now working as I can hear it... went to the back to see if jet was blocked only to find it is not fitted with a rear washer seems very strange !!!20241010_100129682_iOS.heic
