  2. Afternoon Hans Welcome to the Forum I would start with a Diagnostic Scan but then I do have ISTA/INPA on my lap top. Without it I would start by testing the sensors that will effect fuel and spark. Number one Crank position sensor if it is faulty no signal to the DME no signal to the injectors. While testing sensors Fuel Pressure sensor next, while the fuel rail is pressurised is it correct if the pressure sensor is dead the DME will assume no fuel present. Also carefully check the loom to injectors and coil packs not unknown for it to be damaged. Try a Google search for test parameters for the sensors. Also check engine earth straps Hope this helps Dave

  4. Morning Robin Welcome to the Forum By the sound of things you need a coil over kit for standard ride height with adjustable shocks. Playing with bump and rebound settings should allow a more supple ride, though wheels and tyres are a big part of the overall equation. Bilstien are a well established reliable name that has been around for years so if the kit has been developed for the car should be a good choice, lots of other kits out there with a wild price range but personally suspension tyres and brakes really are not worth cutting corners with. Dave
  5. Morning Rob Welcome to the Forum As with most cars in reasonable condition and with an MOT it is worth the market value, check the Auction sites and local adds. Without an MOT it is scrap value as it can't be driven some recyclers may even charge to collect it. Reading your post it seems like you have already made a decision. Personally I would fix it and sell it or maybe carry on using it but then I do all my own maintenance on our cars and its a hobby not a chore Dave
  6. Thanks Dave, will have a look sooner than expected!
  7. Morning Clifford Welcome to the Forum If you are not aware take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will bring up your model then look in the Exhaust section The only part I am aware of BMW call a "fixing Bow" it goes on the rear silencer flap actuator assembly Good luck Dave

  9. Thanks Dave, will enquire further. Thanks for the reply.
  10. Good to know Dave, Thanks! If I can't use them on the fob I'll put em on something. Here Kitty Kitty:)
  11. Been a while, forgot to update sorry. Turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley at fault, bearing was goosed. Hope this helps some people.
  12. Hi Geoff Welcome to the Forum I would think that buying in Canada is like the UK History, History, History then making sure everything works as it should Hope this helps Dave
  13. Morning Oliver Welcome to the Forum Taking your points in order 1. Simple answer NO the gas struts assist and hold the tailgate open but were never designed to open it. A powered tailgate is a different beast altogether, not sure if you can retrofit a powered tailgate if all the loom is there it should be possible but someone with software will need to enable it. 2. Pan roofs were/are well known for their problems, there are repair kits available but if you are not into DIY it may be best to talk to a specialist check the register of BMW Specialists they are normally about half Dealer costs 3. I take it you have checked all bulbs and there is no sign of corrosion were the bulbs mount. I would check the loom where it passes from the tailgate into the body near the hinges it isn't unknown for wires to crack and break after years of opening and closing the tailgate. A fairly straight forward repair depending on your soldering skills. you will need to remove trim to carry out repairs Hope this helps Dave
  14. Hi Stuart Welcome to the Forum If you aren't aware take a look at www.realoem.com it is a BMW online parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then look in the Trim section You should find small exploded drawings that will give you an idea of how things fit together. My guess would be either something like a broken clip or something loose. Good Luck Dave
  15. Thanks for the feedback Dave, really helpful stuff. I bet your friends and family are pleased you are sorted when it comes to puncture repair kits to keep them on the road. I like the sound of a puncture plug kit & tyre weld for screws and suchlike issues to help stay moving. Sidewall rupture is a flatbed for now, but I'm definitely going with non RFT in 17 months for the next M40d which I really enjoy driving. Ironically, we were in Arundel, W.Sussex when I got the recent pot hole blow out, so know exactly what you mean, I could not believe the state of the roads in the south of England to be honest, it was like wacky races avoiding pot holes on any main roads. We live in sunny N. Yorkshire and don't suffer from quite so many holes in the roads. Thank you for the information, but interestingly, I have already logged a claim for vehicle damage (tyre) with W. Sussex CC when I got home, their website says it can take 24 weeks before they even look at it... I'll wait and plan for the fight. Cheers Jon

  17. Morning Kiernan Welcome to the Forum Something in the clutch is wearing or loose and will need investigation would be my guess Gearbox out job to repair Dave
  18. Hi Dave, I’ve actually gone for EBC grooved discs with yellowstuff pads. Just thought it would look a little beefier whilst still benefitting from good performance and longevity. Stu👍
  19. Any Progress William ??? Dave
  20. Hi Kor Welcome to the Forum As your under an extended Warranty fingers crossed it will be plain sailing and fixed Keep us up to date Dave
  21. Morning Damion I would say yes to the software update (but a Dealer will charge £££) this should be in iDrive try My Vehicle, Vehicle Settings, Doors/Key, then scroll down to mirrors and check Fold Mirrors when Locked If that doesn't work you need help from someone with a BMW capable diagnostic package (ISTA/INPA) to check if it is in a hidden menu. Be aware BMW are making it harder and harder to tinker with the cars mainly after 2019 year so you should be OK Dave
  22. Morning Rob His was in the car when he brought it and is OEM (car is BMW 330e 2019) apparently works well with his iPhone but not with our daughters Android phone. You could talk to your Dealer but make sure your wallet is in a protected spot 😁 as I have know idea of cost ££££. If BMW are fitting them then there will be Retro fit kits out there from the Far east so worth looking at the Auction sites but I have no knowledge of quality other than the screen in the X5 failed and I replaced it with a complete Android unit from Ebay at less than a 1/3rd of the BMW quote. Truly plug and play allows switching between the OEM CiC and Android gives better GPS and many other programs and has been totally reliable for the last 3 years (that's killed it ) Me I don't spend long enough in the car for my phone to need charging these days 😅 While the X5 has Android Auto and Carplay I have to say like a lot of gadgets they are rarely used. Bluetooth is the only thing I see as an essential Good Luck with the search for a solution Dave
  23. Hi Richard Welcome to the Forum Sounds like BMW have decided you shouldn't go near any dirt or mud in your 220i Touring 🤣 That leaves little choice really. have you thought of checking Mud Flaps from either the 1 series or 3 series cars it may be they can be modified to fit ? If not it means the after market accessories have you Googled to see what if anything comes up Good Luck with the search Dave
  24. Morning John Welcome to the Forum I believe you should be able to change that in the iDrive menu. Unless you have an import from Japan then it could get more complicated Dave
  25. Hi. That start/stop ignition button never turns off. Same with the P when parked. I will check the mini fuses on the car. I even added some not in fuse box. I will look for gear and brake fuse. On diagram and #. Thanks
  26. Hi Paul Last set for the X5 were from Euro Car Parts by QH Disc's and Pads around £100 if my wallet remembers correctly Dave
  27. Morning Darren I brought mine a few years ago (2009 if I recall) through Ebay. Make the checks mine was from a UK seller with good feed back who also offered back up. Before that I used BMW 1.4.0 (still have it on the same laptop) Where ever you buy just make the normal sensible checks to make sure you will have support if needed Dave
  28. Just realized that I made a mistake. The last sentence should have been: " You would plug the trailer’s 7-pin into it, then the 7-pin coming out of the controller to X5."
  29. I would guess £500 + + from a Dealer so not exactly dear if yours isn't working 😁 Check www.reaoem.com either search by Vin number then through the sections or by the Part number you have. If you aren't aware double click the part number and you should get a list of alternates. Then check the normal Auction sites but don't forget there is a healthy BMW Specialist dismantler network they may help Dave
