My home is in eastern Texas, so we get very little icy/snow driving events compared to many of you. However, I have been driving 4 WD drive trucks for decades as my personal work truck in my construction business. Not for street needs, but there are occasions that a jobsite may be muddy, sandy, or just soft dirt. And at these times, especially if I am pulling a trailer with a ditching machine or scissor lift, 4 WD makes a large difference. And, when the occasional harsh winter comes along, with a few days of ice or snow covered roads, the trips to supermarkets or other errands are no problem. So that leads to my question here. I recently bought a 2025 M440 XDrive. AWD drive systems can be designed mainly for enhanced road handling on a track for instance, or more for low traction conditions. For any of you who may have a non SUV AWD BMW, and stock tires, how do they handle in snow or ice? In normal daily driving, is enough torque sent to the front wheels to be a real benefit over just rear wheel drive? I hope some here can share you experiences/thoughts.

F31 has knocking noise o/s/f and can be felt on steering column. Only occurs on longer journeys and noticeable at very low speeds forward and reverse. Intermittent so hard to get diagnosed

Morning Paul Welcome to the Forum That's the main reason that I changed to an Android based system a couple of years ago one of my sons did the same last month I now have a system that connects to my home wifi whenever parked outside the house and automatically updates all apps. Sat Nav is now Tom Tom but also have Here we Go and Google maps on the system, as well as Android Auto, Car Play, Spotify the list is long. Cost for my son was £250 mine 2 years ago was less than £200. They look OEM plus we both still have access to all the cars radio, CD, and the cars maintenance settings win win Dave

2005, X5, 30i, petrol, manual transmission.

Mine is a 2002 model. I picked it up for £2400. they are rare, when I was looking I only found 2 manuals for sale and only one was petrol. I would expect the value to be around the 2-3k mark. -
Good Morning, I currently have an 05 plate e46 320ci m-sport that I am looking to sell however unsure on the price. Wondered if anyone could help. Full service and MOT history in mineral grey colour with unmarked grey rims, it is in very good condition for a 20 year old car. I have had it for 4 years from 52k miles, currently has around the 84k miles mark. it has grey leather seats, electric fold in mirrors, upgraded custom sound system with 10inch sub fitted into boot, full spare wheel in boot, original tool kit and first aid kit. Drives lovely with no lights on the dashboard and has been very well looked after. I have had no problems with the car since owning it and I am sad to part ways with it. Any help would be appreciated and I am happy to provide pictures of the car.

Morning Brian Welcome to the Forum First I would get the replacement that will be let you see how it is fixed. Next removing the old one, I changed both mine a couple of years back due to fading. The boot one had some sort of glue/mastic under it. I used my heat gun on a low setting to soften everything up then masked around it to prevent scratches and prised it off with a plastic trim remover took quite a bit of levering Hope this is useful Dave

Hi all, Have these scratches on the rubber trim at the bottom of the windows on my 5 series, suspect thanks to whoever has been washing it. Has anyone attempted to either replace the trim or paint it?

BMW CHANGING GEAR TO NEUTRAL DURING DRIVING

Morning Chris Welcome to the Forum It could be a number of things you need a Diagnostic Scan to tell you more It could be anything from a Gear selector switch to a Service on the box needed and several things in between Dave -
Morning Cornel Most Main Dealers are North of £200 per hour Google the register of BMW Specialists they are normally ex BMW Tech's and will have all the Kit and Knowledge you need more important their Hourly rates are around half the Main Dealer's same applies to ZF Trans Specialist's I have always serviced my own cars (hobby) and my wife thinks it's safer than me helping in the garden 😁 I did my X5 earlier this year I brought genuine a ZF service kit £190 OEM Transfer case fluid £70 front and rear diffs £80 total £340 The transfer case on an E70 is a Faff as BMW decided to hide the drain plug behind the Transfer box support cradle but once I worked it out it went well, whole job took me a morning with coffee and biscuits Dave

I’m guessing this one hasn’t been serviced since it was born! … I took the filter box apart and it needs replacing. Someone has tried to fix it before, but it’s beyond alive now! Haha. the bootlid needs either pushing out or replacing, as does the rear bumper after it got into a fight with a bus… and a rear light… apart from that, it seems well. 😂

Need help identifying burnt part
Greydog replied to DDMORE's topic in Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
Morning Dan Welcome to the Forum As it isn't a BMW Part I am not sure there will be help here, unless a member on here has come across the same issue Maybe Google to see if there is a Harmon Kardon Forum to see if they have more information Good Luck Dave -
Following further conversation with the owner, he has corrected me to say its a September 1995 model. 5.4ltr V12 SWB. Apparently there were very limited numbers of this model in right hand drive. Any interest of advice please let me know.

Morning Luis Welcome to the Forum You can check by using a BMW Vin decoder website put in your Vin number and it will bring up the build sheet for your car. If the car is Bluetooth equipped you will find either SA633 or SA644 codes, if they are there then the car is Bluetooth equipped. Two things will stop it working (1) The Bluetooth memory is full 4 phones I think. (2) the Telematics unit in the Boot/Trunk left side is not working If your not seeing a Bluetooth function then it will be the Telematics unit and its antenna. First check the boot area left side if the telematic unit is there unplug it and get the part number from it then use Google to source a replacement If your car was not Bluetooth equipped check the left boot are for a connector taped up in the loom in that area if it is there you may just need the parts. Then if you want it to be OEM use www.realoem.com to get the part numbers and source the equipment, it should be pretty much plug and play. The alternative is an after market Bluetooth kit Dave
-
Morning Matija Part of the Comfort access system then 😁 If you try www.realoem.com and put in the cars Vin (last 7 digits) it will bring up your model then reach the sections for the correct part and part number, once you have the part double click the part number and you will get a list of any alternatives and models they were used on Great find Dave

Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply and the welcome. Car has only done 33k miles with full service history - never any issues. The tuner in question will be DMS automotive, I believe they are established and have done various things with Carwow and Top Gear. Slightly on the higher end price wise but believe it would be stupid to cheap out on something like this. I also don't plan on being a boy racer, I just want the extra power for the odd over take and to prevent the delays from the automatic gearbox. Thanks again for the help! Seb

Morning James Google the Register of BMW Dismantlers (Quarry Motors have always been useful). For my E53 4.6is I used a local Carpet Fitter he made up a full set for me all edges trimmed and including non slip velcro patches. He used the OEM mats as patterns and off cuts from a Dark Grey High Quality Wilton carpet he had fitted, cost was less than half OEM gave the car a new smell for ages. Dave
