  1. Its still worth getting the codes read. I had a similar issue. Light came on but no issue with the car. My code reader pointed to the Nitrogen Oxide Sensor. Emission's were fine so it was obviously only the sensor. I cleared the codes and it would do anything between 30 and 300 miles before coming on again after I kept clearing them.

As BMW wanted £450 to fit a new one I bought one second hand off a car that had only done 5000 miles for £145. Got local garage to fit it as I couldn't get enough clearance under the car to fit it myself and have not had the issue since.

  2. First off welcome along.

The cruise control relies on a number of sensors and if any of these aren't working properly the system wont work. A good code reader should identify the issue. Have you got a friendly garage near you that will scan the system for free?

I have experienced a similar boot lock issue with a Focus in the past although it may not be caused by the same problem. On the Focus the boot lock was affected by water ingress. I took it out and stripped it. Cleaned it all up including the connections to the motor and got it working again. I sprayed the electrics with electrical sealant and didn't have an issue again.

    Good luck with it.

  3. Its probably not something anyone here has done. People wont know what the question is before they read the post, so obviously you are likely to get a lot of views without an answer. This is the first time I have seen a post on the subject. The last time I heard about one of these valves was on a 1984 MG Metro.

To get to the point, I fail to see the point of the valve. I can only assume it is to protect the clutch from people unable to control their releasing the pedal smoothly. I cant see too much of an issue in removing it or probably better to replace it with one that works properly.
