  1. Morning Clo Welcome to the Forum Often when you have fault codes 1 is the cause the other codes are symptoms. If you aren't aware look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model. Then check the section for what you need if buying parts you will have the correct part numbers. If your driving is over short journey's it is not unusual for the EGR valve to become clogged, the EGR cooler gets over worked and often the spring weakens. So First check all the vacuum lines to the cooler, you can clean and check the cooler (I would replace it) Clean the EGR (use carb cleaner) make sure every thing is working freely. Check and (Replace if needed) the DPF sensors and O2 sensors, if the DPF is clogged/sooted up try getting it cleaned. Good Luck hope this is helpful Dave
  2. Morning Timothy Welcome to the Forum Take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then search the sections for what you want (Fuel Preparation) the small exploded drawings should help with location and fitting also the part number (if buying a replacement) Also double click the part number and it will give a list of alternative part numbers and models it was used on. Good Luck Dave
  3. Hi Stu There has to be pressure in the braking system (foot on the brake) before the ABS function can work releasing and reapplying pressure The vehicle needs to be fitted with Active Cruise Control with the Stop/Go function to allow it to brake the car (Stop/Go has an electric servo on the brakes) if Alex's 125i has that then it could be a short affecting it You would expect BMW or a competent Independent to be able to work it out though Dave
  4. Morning Peter Welcome to the Forum I guess your price is from your BMW Dealer ? Not a problem I have ever had to deal with but I did read some time ago about a company "Toponline.com" worth a Google search. Apparently they make roof seals and repair kits. If I recall they are an American based outfit but they seem to have a good reputation You could also look at specialist dismantlers like Quarry Motors Good Luck Dave
  5. Morning Alex Welcome to the Forum If your car has Radar controlled Cruise Control that could apply the brakes if there is a Short Circuit somewhere while the wipers are operating. If you don't have radar cruise control then the Brakes are a separate mechanical system that would not be affected by a short circuit. That leaves a sudden cut in power so back to a short circuit that affects the ignition/fuel injection looms Just my initial thoughts Dave
  6. Welcome to the Forum Dale Dave
  7. Morning Garbz Welcome to the Forum Clearly there is a dead short which will probably be in the loom so tracing it will need some patience My bet will be chaffed or split wiring Have you had any diagnostics run ? Dave
  8. EV's at the moment are I believe where Mobile phones/Laptops where in the early/mid 90's bulkier and heavier then with little life away from a socket to plug into. 🤣 I guess they will get there, or they will need some serious investment in Hydrogen cell technology lets hope the investment is here and not sold off Dave
  9. Morning Michael Welcome to the Forum Like you on several cars not just BMW's I have found several instance's of loom or hoses rubbing or chaffing. I keep of slotted plastic push studs the allow a cable tie to be used to secure stuff. If it looks bad I add a short piece of water pipe insulation, it's surprising how many odd noises its fixed 😅 Dave
  10. With you on the EV front when Tesla themselves quote 40% recycling If you are into home maintenance it will help to get a copy of ISTA/INPA it will have everything you need for Diagnostic's Workshop information Technical information and you can use it on both your Beemers Dave
  11. Morning Richard Welcome to the Forum We love enthusiastic engineers and as the years catch up ( the big 80 is close) you just need to add a couple of new tools to the kit, a couple of younger bendier sons and a really helpful 13 year old Granddaughter who's hands fit where mine no longer seem to 🤣🤣 Nice collection of BMW's ENJOY Dave
  12. Hi Simon The instructions in ISTA are Go to the iDrive navigation. Open the menu. Scroll down to the very bottom and select ‘Software update’. When you’ll see the button ‘show current version’, select it. But that screen looks as though thats where you are your car really isn't playing ball Dave
  13. Morning Steve Welcome to the Forum I believe there are several You tube instruction videos on enabling Media streaming However BMW make adding OEM functions complicated and expensive. That is why so many alternative Android based options are now available Do a search on the internet you will be surprised at how many there are and they are a straight forward DIY option Dave
  14. Morning John The only time I have seen that code was on a 540d touring the cause there was a split inter cooler interesting it also threw a Transmission fault. Once the intercooler was replaced everything reset and ran like new Check all the charge hoses, pipes and the intercooler for damage would be a starting point Dave
  15. Have you tried Erisin Customer Service ? I thought all the NBT systems were rated/identified by the 6 pin LVDS plug. When the installers put the system in did they move the Fibre Optic connection ? Just trying to think why it isn't connecting to the cars onboard system? Dave
  16. Morning Jorge Welcome to the Forum Have you checked the Mass Airflow sensor wiring for cracks or chaffing Check the PCV for cracked or split vacuum lines make sure the PCV valve is working OK and not clogged. Check the Vanos system and solenoids Those are my thoughts most other stuff you have covered Good Luck Dave
  17. Morning Martin Welcome to the Forum ENJOY your Beemer Dave
  18. Hi Naomi First after the engine bay got its hot shower a lot of Electrical connectors got flooded so a careful check through them with a can of good electrical contact cleaner would be my starting point. P0430 Cat needs attention At your mileage they could need replacing ,P0444,Evap/Purge control check and change the Vacuum lines Evap unit P2098 O2 Sensors If you and your BF are not aware take a look at www.realoem.com it is an online BMW parts list put your Vin into the search box it will bring up your Model then search the sections for what you need. Another good source of information is www.pelicanparts.com check their BMW Articles section lots of "How To's" with pictures. P0305 Mis Fire Cylinder 5 P0040 O2 Sensor Circuit P0306 Mis fire cylinder 6 P0304 Mis fire Cylinder 4 P0300 P0301 P0303 P0302 and P16A7. Just about all your codes are Mis fire related These would be electrical faults so check the looms to Injectors and Coil packs There is a BMW Diagnostic Program "BMW 1.4.0" not expensive around £20 if you get it loaded on to a laptop it will give you Dealer Level access for fault finding programming and generally fixing stuff My personal course of action would be to carry out a compression test that will let you know that the mis fire issues are Ignition/Fuel related not mechanical (Burnt exhaust valve) Next the cats and the O2 sensors get them changed if all the Vacuum lines are OK and the Evap is OK refit the plugs coils packs and injector wiring and it should be good to go Good Luck Dave
  19. Hi Jitendra The best rated front/rear dash cam currently is Thinkware about £200 and recommended by Camera website Viofo A119 V3 - RECOMMENDED. Buy now from Amazon (£99.59) There are always offerings by Nextbase who were one of the originals in the market The price from your Independent seems really fair remember BMW do not make these they have them made badged and boxed so when you add the Dealers mark up and around £200 p/hour labour rate it isn't difficult to get to their price Me I would DIY if that is beyond your skill set use the Independent Dave
  20. Morning Stuart Check www.realoem.com for part numbers then search the Internet for best prices Dave
  21. Morning Billy Welcome to the Forum Over the years there have been quite a few instances like this all I can do is advise gain as much evidence from both sides of the Atlantic. The law in the USA is stronger with the possibility of a Class action so all manufacturers tend to use recalls to protect themselves. If you can find enough victims here and in Europe try Rogue Traders BMW have been there before sadly Good Luck Dave
  22. Morning Jitendra Enjoy your new to you Beemer Dave
  23. Morning Alexandra C-tec make excellent trickle/conditioning chargers I use mine once a month on my moth balled E53 4.6is and my wife's Subaru which see's low use It is very easy to lift the bonnet and un clip the charger Dave
  24. Morning Rick Welcome to the Forum First an obvious question have you checked the cost of repair against the cost of repainting and fitting your replacement ? I would check www.realoem.com the small exploded drawings will give clues as to how it fits and list any clips and fasteners I would buy a set just in case any on the car are rusted or broken. Good luck hope its a smooth change Dave PS if you haven't used realoem before put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will bring up your model
  25. Morning Eugene Welcome to the Forum The Tachometer will get it's signal from the DME through I believe the EWS then to the Instrument cluster. The instrument Cluster (right rear) a White 26 pin connector (X16) pin 20 a Black wire The wire will come from the EWS a Yellow 15 pin connector (X1659) pin 12 Black wire So if you get a signal on that wire at the connector behind the cluster then there is an issue with the cluster (dry joint or corrosion at the connector) Hope this is of use Dave
