£150 isn't a bad price for supply and fit mate and there is no way of checking without taking things apart. There are lots of guides on the net, it's not a very hard mod to do tbh.

From what I've read is down to the of use, manuals more than autos as harsh ger changes put strain on the chain

Read into the chain problem.. It really on concerns cars that have been abused..I personally wouldn't worry mate
