They are certainly more noisy/rattely than the petrols, but what your describind dont sound right. Dont mean to tell you have to drive, but try changing gear a little later, keep the revs higher

I have a 320d...I couldnt ask for anything more to be fair. I sort of cant justify a loosing my mpg for a few more hp The only way im going bigger is by getting a 530d or 535d
