  1. Didn't even know they did an X8. Look good in the gold though. Starting price??£££££
  2. ah,never knew. Cheers.
  3. Hi, I would always give any "new" car I buy either private or trade an oil and filter change, along with fuel and air filters as you can never tell. I thought OEM was Mahle?
  4. I have just had mine serviced, as when I bought it the box was buttery smooth. I could, lately just feel a bit of a change on the change down. As it was 6 years old and 50k miles decided to get it done and now back to buttery smooth. The old oil definately needed changing. There is also a filter in the gearbox, so surely that needs changing at some point. BMW say its lifetime, but will offer a service on it for about £1500. ZF say 6 yrs/60k miles. So I went to my local indie and had it done for £415. I guess it depends how the car is driven light or lead footed and motorway or town, and in some small measure luck of the draw.
  5. Do you have any Battery Management messages appear when you start the car? My start/stop has never really kicked in as Sytner BMW should have really put a new battery on it before they sold it me. Mine only works if I have done a long drive (100+) and it's not too cold, and all the other parameters are met. It will only work on mine (G21 320d) in Comfort and Eco mode, Sport disengages it. Even a slight drop on the battery seems to stop it kicking in. When I first got it I drove in Eco mode all the time, and as my battery is "tired" it didn't really charge up enough. I believe it has an “intelligent” alternator so will only pull on it when really required. Eco prioritises exactly that - fuel economy - so will have alternator disengaged as much as possible. I know on my Golf when the start/stop has turned the engine off, the child can start it up by turning the A/C button on. Try charging the battery up over the weekend and see if that makes a difference. I'll be honest I find start/stop a pain in the ##### and usually turn it off. But it is annoying when a feature doesn't work properly.
  6. I remove mine in the spring and autumn and use Meguiars Wheel Cleaner, then wash them down and give them a good coating of a decent wax (usually meguiars). This for me at least achieves two things (used to be three, wheel rotation so they wear evenly - can't do it as now on staggered set up) it allows me to check pads, discs and tyres, and makes the wheels really easy to clean when on the car (I tend to avoid the wheel cleaner when the wheels are on the car, as it will remove the wax) I am tempted to try a ceramic or graphene coating on them to see if that lasts longer, but the price keeps putting me off, or at least I don't have the money at the time when I'm taking them off to clean. You probably will get a lot of brake dust to start with as they are new brakes and need to bed in.
  7. Wow, thats a lot of work and money. Are you glad you bit the bullet and got it repaired? What kind of warranty did they give you on repairs? Interesting to see the pricing breakdown, 3hrs for software updates... I suppose you saved a grand with the route you took. I do hope you have trouble free motoring going forward.
  8. I'll say £3-4k
  9. This is where small child comes in handy. I had to do the same in my old Golf and I found holding the child by the legs upside down she was able to get her small hands inbetween the battery box and light unit to get to the bulb. After that I was tempted to send her up the chimney. Sadly she is now too big to change bulbs, and would now certainly moan about helping to do it. I think the Victorians had the right idea!
  10. While I can't help with the wheels. Cracking colour, loving the shine. Pro job?
  11. I had Hankook on front and Michelin Pilot 4 on rear, which were pretty good with road noise, I then got a set with Bridgestone Turanza on rear and Perelli P7 on front (didn't choose them came with alloys) I think they sound noticably louder. All run flat and on 18"s. I would look at noise rating for the tyres when you change. Try having a look at tyre settings in the car TPMS, I think mine is set to "comfort" I think it just means less pressure than "Eco" mode, so I I would assume they would be a bit quieter and softer for the what apparently my local council have the nerve to call roads.
  12. With regards to a lot of independents not able to do anything with it. It seems to be the case with electric in general, the three local grease monkeys I use don't want anything to do with electric stuff. Their argument is there is enough "analogue" work out there, so why bother to re-train/ invest in new equipment. Which I kind of get, but sadly that means that if you do go electric then the only option is expensive dealer or you maybe lucky and find a slightly cheaper independent, who know they only have to be slightly cheaper than dealer as not may of them will look at electric. I was going to buy a MG5, instead of the 320D, I even test drove a couple. I must say I have never once regretted the buying the 320D, I honestly can't say I could say the same if I'd bought the MG5. Please keep us updated on the progress of the 330e. Out of interest what made you go for the 330e?
  13. Sorry, bit late but there are a couple of specialists in Reading. 3D Transmissions Reading Grosvenor House
  14. It would be interesting to see if/when the "broken" trade in ended up in the dealer network. I'd be properly miffed if my 5 year old car broke like that at that mileage, I'd be wondering if the gearbox was fit for purpose. Which reminds me I must get my box serviced, my local independant is £415, using genuine ZF parts (Dealer £1100).
  15. Wow, where was the bulge? I've never experienced those issues with a bulge on the tyre and had them on the inside and outside.
  16. Yes, I've knocked a few weights off cleaning the wheels, one even came off using the wheel brush. Annoying to say the least.
  17. My Fold 7 usually connects straight away when I get in, however every now and then I have to select android auto on the idrive to get it to connect. It may do this because I open the car to put dog in then go back in house with phone in pocket and it drops connection, yet other times I do it and it re-connects straight away. Does your work phone have a higher profile order than the personal one? With regards to digital key, do you need/have BMW digital key set up card? Video here Found this: Creating Driver Profile A driver profile is created or via iDrive: 1. "CAR". 2. "Driver profiles". 3. Move the Controller to the right. As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar. 4. "Add driver profile". ConnectedDrive countries: An existing ConnectedDrive account must be assigned to a driver profile. If a ConnectedDrive account has not yet been created, the account can be created via a smartphone. A QR code will be displayed on the Control Display for this purpose. The creation of the driver profile can continue with the access data of the created ConnectedDrive account. Selecting recognition The settings for the recognition are entered via iDrive: 1. "CAR" 2. "Driver profiles" 3. Move the Controller to the right. As an alternative for Steps 1 to 3, the profile image can be tapped in the top status bar. 4. "Driver recognition" 5. Select the desired setting: "with vehicle key". The vehicle key that is recognized in the car's interior is assigned to the driver profile. If multiple vehicle keys are detected, the unintended vehicle keys must be removed from the car's interior. "With Digital Key". The digital key that is recognized in the car's interior is assigned to the driver profile. If multiple digital keys are detected, the unintended digital keys must be removed from the car's interior. 6. "Activate linkage" As soon as the vehicle detects the vehicle key or the digital key, the corresponding driver profile will be activated. If the vehicle key or the smartphone with the digital key is not carried with you or the vehicle key or digital key is not recognized, the driver profile can only be selected on the Welcome screen when a PIN has been set up. Setting up a PIN A driver profile with recognition cannot be activated without vehicle key and without digital key. In this case, a PIN can be set up to activate the driver profile.
  18. No letter yet, but I checked on BMW website I have a open recall for it 320 Xdrive 2019. Again as others have said dealer waiting for parts.
  19. Going by that really enticing and highly detailed description, colour me not very interested. If you want to sell it as Reacher would say "details matter!"
  20. ah, obviously the foot spa optional extra wasn't installed correctly. Did you find the cause? Water is a sod, I had a slight leak into my wheel well (about an egg cup full). Tried it out and kept an eye on it, it never has so far come back and I never did find the cause. My current working theroy is that it may have been when BMW wet vacced the carpet before sale. I know it sound rather rudimentary but you could try taping paper towel around the footwell above the waterline, that would at least give you an idea of where it's coming from if it's coming from the sides. If its holding that much water then I would'nt have thought it would be leaking from underneath as surely it would drain away. Is the carpet in the front dry? Door seal on correctly? My old golf, I had slightly moved the door seal and it was suprising how much water did get through. Do you have any drain holes somewhere near the boot hinge?
  21. Hi Paul, Out of interest does you wireless charge tray actually charge your phone? Or does it just turn it into a small heater that get hotter than the sun, causing the phone to shut down due to overheat and put a very small amout of charge in it as mine does?
  22. I fully agree! I've had a set of winter wheels for the golf since I bought it in 2012, purely becasue I wanted a proper spare wheel. 4 x alloys with winter tyres (same size as summer wheels/tyres) and wheel bags £800 (on offer) from VW a spare alloy with tyres (to match what was already on there) £800, so what do you think I went for?
  23. I think I will go non run flat when its time to change. Purely for ride comfort. Its the only thing I can fault my G21 on, you know if you hit a bump or pot hole. My friend changed his to non run flats on the mini and it made so much difference to ride comfort, and with the state of the roads these days... I'll be honest I didn't think insurance would be bothered, if a tyre fits surely its fine? I know some of them were being asses a while back with people fitting winter tyres saying they had modified their cars.
  24. Argh, don't tell me that! Just looking in my warranty and it's not covered either.🙄
  25. my G21 every now and then makes a clicking when opened. I assume this is normal.🤔
