i think you can buy something to stop the rust.i forget what its called though.then i guess it needs to be sanded and filled and sanded and filled.halfords do a paint matching service that they put into an aerosol for you.then you will need some laquer.i think it would be fairly straight forward but the finish wont be as good as a proffesional spray booth.worth a go though

your mates are right.land rovers are by far the best 4x4's going but an x5 wasnt designed for that.its a luxury car for roads......the moms love them for the school run too.grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :P welcome to bmwoc mate
