Hi all, I'm shamed to say

I've just bought my first BMW at the grand old

age of 38. Two days into it now and am loving big time.

Just wanted to know any thoughts/experiences of

Warrantywise or Warranty direct and if its good practice to

Spend £560 for a year, to cover my new love?

Cheers.

Hi Mark.

I have no experience of these 'aftermarket' warranties personally but have read many posts abut them on forums. The general consensus is that they are a complete waste of money!

I would say save your money, put what you would pay per month for the warranty into a savings account then use that if/when you need to for any repairs that your car ay need

NO ! Save yer money... Proof is in the small-print matey, it covers bugger all really !

Save for a rainy day bud

560 quid a year? sod that!!

Mark

If like me you need peace of mind and a warranty to suit then i can only recommend a BMW warranty. Expensive i know but worth it in my opinion. Will continue to renew when the current one runs out especially as you can pay monthly.

Only my opinion but i am useless with cars.

Hi Ben, I have just picked up my 2009 135i. Dealer tried to sell me one, got two years thrown in. Spoke to indi BMW specialist about remap and mentioned the cover. They can get funny about claims, want to send their own techi to look over car first. Make sure u keep the car serviced via vat regd garage or could void. Make sure they use genuine parts or could be void. Ultimately they will try and wiggle out of coughing up...

I'm probably in a small minority, but I have bought the BMW Warranty each year for the last 9 years. It has cost more (£730 pa.) than the benefits overall, but it gives me piece of mind.

It's like any insurance gives peace of mind, on my last E61 I bought warranty from Car Care Plan through my motoring association cost around £350, later my computer started throwing up funny messages as they can do when the battery voltage is low, I had my local friendly BMW dealer check it out and turned out that the alternator was over-charging and shutting down, cost to repair including diagnosis £1200+.

I thought thank G..! I had bought warranty, that's when I found out why it was so cheap Car Plan said we supply our own alternators but if you insist on a genuine BMW we will only contribute what our own(not genuine) would cost us, having been in the motor trade all my life and knowing what problems can arise from non genuine re-con parts on BMWs' I opted for genuine plus I also got a courtesy car from the dealer

To cut a long story short Care Plan sent an assessor to the BMW dealer to check out the claim, the outcome being that Car Plan paid the total cost, I don't why, but I do know I shall be buying BMW Warranty next time.
