  1. A bit of perhaps useless info, my previous car E91 M Sport 353i the BMW handbook recommended running on Ron 98 I ran it on Shell Fuel Save Ron 95 and to honest could not notice any difference but the car I have now F11 535i same engine BMW recommend using Ron 95 but the engine test results listed in the handbook are based on Ron 98 so how's that for a bit of useless info. I guess a lot depends on the engine a few years ago I ran a Volvo V7 2.5 petrol now SHELL V POWER was really noticeable on acceleration in particular, as it was a company car I didn't have put my hand in my pocket for the extra cost, happy days.
  2. It's like any insurance gives peace of mind, on my last E61 I bought warranty from Car Care Plan through my motoring association cost around £350, later my computer started throwing up funny messages as they can do when the battery voltage is low, I had my local friendly BMW dealer check it out and turned out that the alternator was over-charging and shutting down, cost to repair including diagnosis £1200+. I thought thank G..! I had bought warranty, that's when I found out why it was so cheap Car Plan said we supply our own alternators but if you insist on a genuine BMW we will only contribute what our own(not genuine) would cost us, having been in the motor trade all my life and knowing what problems can arise from non genuine re-con parts on BMWs' I opted for genuine plus I also got a courtesy car from the dealer To cut a long story short Care Plan sent an assessor to the BMW dealer to check out the claim, the outcome being that Car Plan paid the total cost, I don't why, but I do know I shall be buying BMW Warranty next time.
  3. Hi guys, I only recently joined BMOC and I have already noticed there seems to be a lot of E39 owners on here, I have to say that my favourite car also is/was the E39 530d M Sport Touring I've had three an 01, 03, and 55 plate the last one being a run-out model loaded with virtually everything, wished had I had kept it, but like all my cars I start to feel like a change after 12 months or so and traded it in for an E60 530i not one of my best ideas, couple of days later asked the dealer if I could buy it back he said it was sold before I took delivery of the E60. So Guys, what's your favourite car? - BMW naturally of course
  4. Hi all I'm a newbie to the Club just joined although been a BMW owner and enthusiast for years, the cars I have owned started from E36 M Sport Touring working my way thought the range to my current car F11 535i M Sport, with a two car desertion to Jaguar after a fall-out with BMW Customer Service and their local Dealer and I look forward to taking part in forum discussions.
