I'm currently thinking of selling my 911 996 hobby car and replacing it with a a big v8 that will be good for odd weekends away with the kids etc and keep me happy as a petrol head. The wife has a nice 4x4 but we don't need 2 so she can get something more frugal for day to day and I can still get a petrol fix when I'm not at work.

Running costs aren't really a big issue but should I look out for anything? There's a few nice 54 plates around for £10kish how much should I spend?...

Edited to say HI, very rude of me! I've had plenty beemers before, M3 last and lovely old 540Msport before that...
