looking to upgrade the standard 16" alloys to 17" or 18", tyres will be either 215/45/17 or 225/40/18, would like to stay oem. The standard offset is ET34, looking at a few sets that have varying offsets of ET33, ET38, ET40, ET43 & ET47. They are all 3 series wheels with the correct PCD. Does the higher offset (ET) push the wheels out into the arches away from the brakes etc or is it the other way around. Would changing the offset upset the handling.

Cheers

i think the higher the offset the more the wheels push out.gav may be the man to ask about this though.i have a set of 18's on my car at the moment not sure on the offset though.gav used to have some 19's on his 330 i think.

the further out they go the more chance of "rub" happening then you may have to stretch the tyres.again gav is probably better to speak to than me

Hope this helpspost-462-0-79566900-1362910698_thumb.jpg

I'm currently running a front offset of 20 on a 8j 18 front with 215/45

Rear offset 32 on a 9j wheel with 215/18

I have run ET34 9J with 255/19/40 on the rears no problem

Finally found what I've been looking for at a good price, still not sure if they will fit tho. They are 18x8.5 et 38 with 225/40/18 tyres. The et is slightly higher so I believe this will pull the wheel in a bit towards the strut. There is loads of clearance either side for the back wheels but the front wheels are quite close to the strut.

Seen MV3 alloys on non m sport models and they are 18x8.5 et 34 front , et 37 rear with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 tyres so the only issue I can see is the offset for the fronts, what do you guys think.

3mm mate, you shouldn't have a problem
