hi had 2 get engine and exhaust decoked on x3 2.0d is this a common problem as garage says it was , it cost a lot of dosh, as was big job.dont want this 2 happen again.cheers

It is, all diesels do it, a simple way of cutting it down to a minimum is making sure other components, like the EGR for example, are clean and are working as they should...

The EGR does exactly what it says - Exhaust Gas Recirculation, so you can imagine the rubbish that gets thrown back into the cylinders !!

EGR is a common thing to clean.

If your good with a spanner, have a go yourself, its pretty simple and will save you some dollar in the future.

Dealers will always try and con anyone who knows nothing about cars (I would too TBF)

DeCoking your engine means a spray of carb cleaner and an old rag

I learnt this dealer trick the hard way a few years back

or a bottle of redex as the garage i used to take my taxi to the usles gits . n yes its a vaxhaull zafira but its a 190bhp sri remaped with induction kit n mental sport button lol u should see there faces when they say im runnin late can u put ur foot down :D :D :D :D
