keep getting clunking from under car when going over uneven ground.

did front drop links still the same ,looked at track rods wishbones ,sturt mounts all fine

does any one no what this could be

thanks steve

Wow not going to be an easy one to find, Does the clunking sound like metal on metal? It`s well worth putting the car onto axle stands then go around all the joins with a crow bar, the slightest play can make the strangest noise. Is it coming from the front or back of the car, if it’s the middle it will be a center bearing!

Exhaust ? Propshaft ?? the list is endless really, get underneith and just give everything a good yank/poke/bash :)

sounds like its coming from rear putting it on axle stands at weekend

as am going to renew diff oil have a good look around then

cheers steve

My E39 had a similar noise. Turned out to be the Shocks where knackered

Link bushes?

Drop links...doubt it but maybe bearings...but you would prob feel bearings more than hear them.

Broken spring?

Broken spring?

Yes, had this on my Megane, tried everything, done my head in ended up a broken spring.

springs are all ok bushes and shocks checked bearings and flexi disc form gearbox to shaft are fine'

did front drop links about 6wks ago ,goning to do back ones tomorrow just in case

How about trying something simpler like, wheel nuts, bearing tightness? Maybe look at the shocker rods for seapage/damage? Just a thought because you seem to be trying everything else!

Could even be a caliper/pad/handbrake issue ?!

done rear drop links thats done the trick that god

and cheers to ever one that helped me :D

Its quite mad that how small and seemingly pointless they are, they can make a big horrible noise when knackered

Glad its sorted mate.

Happy days again ;)
