I am a new member so first hello everyone, I am the owner of a 2002 X5 4.6si. The suspension is very noisey. Seems to be from the rear. There is a very annoying squeek which is quite loud. It sounds that something is needing grease or oil. Can anyone tell me what the problem is please??

have you checked the bushes?has the car been standing for a long time?

First of welcome to the club and congratulations on your choice of BMW I got a 2003 4.6is.

Now the bad news us if your car has done 80,000 plus miles it will defiantly need some or all bushes replacing just had mine done at a cost if abou £1,500

The good news is you will think your driving a new car .

Bushes are there to protect more expensive parts so by leaving it you risk damage to them

Good answers guys... Also check the dampers.

Thank you all for the replies, the car has done 90,000 miles. So i fear it may be the bushes. I must get it checked out.

Thanks again for your replies & advice.

Welcome mate iv got the same problem but is more of a rattle, been told it could be a bush so I would go with that

The bushes on the front are the main problem area for an x5, the rears do go after about 80,000. But I had a squeak on the rear and it was the exhaust shield and all it needed was a new bolt with a lager washer to re secure it to the body. Also check the rear rubbers that hold the exhaust boxes in place they crack over time and the exhaust boxes can move around and make a noise.
