@ this time I will imagine that your box is fully manual...

Your motor is the M52 (same as mine), there is NO short-shift facility !

If you need short-shift then you can either, reduce the length of the gear shift (inside the car), or, shorten the selector-actuator on the side of the gearbox !!!
