Hi

I have just brought a BMW 318 T reg 1999. When I start the car the red oil light goes out then 10 seconds later an amber oil light comes on and goes out after 10 seconds, is this normal or is there a problem with the car. Any information would be great.

    hi there bert.welcome along mate.somebody will be along and answer your question soon mate.my car does the same.i dont get a red light but the amber one comes on for about 10 seconds when i start it up.have you checked the oil level?is it due an oil service?

    Just check the levels mate, if they are ok then it could simply be a sensor issue... BMW's love scaring you on your dash LOL

    Having said this, your sump strainer/filter may need a clean... When was it last serviced?

    Hi DAZ

    Had an oil change and replaced the oil pressure switch,if it was low oil pressure I would have thought the red oil light would have come on not the amber one. thanks for the reply
