I bought my B3 Alpina convertible nearly 5 years ago and each time the insurance renewal comes up, I seem to have more trouble getting a competitive quote. Like most of us I guess, I get lots of "flyers" saying "Come to us and we guarantee to beat your current insurer by 10%/12.5% etc." Some, when I phone, do not get past the first screen where they input the reg and come up with things like "import" which is how I understand the Alpina models are regarded. Other give all sorts of special conditions like "must have tracker fitted", "must be garaged overnight" and special excess, then quote an enormous premium.

So speaking with a friend, I was recommended to try this Club and their special insurance deal for members. Now I have phoned the number, got through to Chris Knott and been told that they cannot quote for the Alpina model, or at least not without special terms and loading, just like Zurich and the rest. Apparently if it was an M3 covertible, a faster higher tuned model, it would be no problem.

I would be interested to hear from other Alpina owners, whether they have had similar problems and if so, any solution? By the way I am currently with Tesco, literally the only insurer who has so far quoted on reasonable terms, albeit at a price I believe is too high.

all insurance has gone thru the roof sadly so having a alpina isnt going to help one bit, have you got a tracker fitted? it may be worth while getting one. for what they do there not to expensive. just make sure you look into all the details of what each one does, you will get what you pay for.
