We bought a 2026 x5 three months ago. One month in, it started to shift roughly. We took it in, and it's been there ever since. We were eventually told that the problem was low transmission fluid, which they could not immediately fix because there was a nationwide shortage of fluid(!). We've since heard that the transmission is incompatible with the transmission, and the solution is throttling back the power of the engine. Has anyone heard about any of this?

I have heard of several issues with Hybrid Transmissions but this is a new one !! The Dealer is basically saying the car is very badly designed with a Transmission not suitable for purpose? that stinks. They are saying that you purchased a Top of the range car for its Performance and Power that has an inherent Fault, and the only way to fix it is to reduce Power and Performance to that of a lesser model ???

I would write formally to the Dealer MD with a copy to BMW Customer services setting out the sorry tale so far then set out a time to repair properly (say end of month) or Return your money plus any out of pocket costs or expense incurred

We picked up the car yesterday and started the Lemon Law buy-back process with BMW North America at the recommendation of the sales manager. I told him we are ready to go all-electric and would like to basically swap out for an iX3(?). We shall see.
