First post, just bought a 2019 1 series sport. Replaced the key fob battery as requested, but the key still doesn't work for unlocking/locking car. It's still asking me to replace the battery, read this goes after a few cycles of locking and unlocking. Locks/unlocks fine on mybmw app. Does the Key need resinking, not sure how long it would have been flat for?

Welcome to the Forum

If the car is starting on the key just not recognising the key for lock/unlock actions or are you using the App to start the car?

If the battery has been dead for some time then your car may be seeing it as a "New" key which will need syncing or re-syncing. There are several "how too's" on the Internet have you tried syncing yet?

Thanks for welcome.

The how too's I've found all refer to turning the key. I've given it a try anyway, turn on off (as in position 1 with key) holding unlock then pressing the lock button, no joy. Yet to find anything for push button start tbh.
