Electrical Problems

Hi everyone

Is there a common electrical issues section or similar. I think the rear light cluster/plug melt is a common issue.

Mine has a new cluster but nothing works. And no errors either. Someone had clearly poorly fitted a new plug is there anywhere I can find diagrams to trace out?

I've done a forum search for F31 rear plug, rear cluster etc with little results

thanks

I’ve remade all the poor connections and have a stop light now and a good earth. Still no turn signal, no 12V at the cable. Front turn signal is working fine, I’ve subscribed to the Haynes online but it doesn’t appear to show this as indiviudally fused front and back so I’m a bit stumped. I’ll look some more another day…

Morning Dave

First has someone fitted a Rear cluster from an LCI model as an upgrade ? If they have the wiring is completely different.

So check part numbers, if you are not aware www.realoem.com  it is an online BMW parts list put the last 7 digits of your vin into the search box it will call up your model . Then check the relevant section if you double click the part number it will call up any alternates.

If you have LCI LED rear clusters fitted it was a popular upgrade so there are a number of aftermarket plug converter kits I also believe (trusting they old grey stuff now) BMW have a converter kit, you may also need the lights coding to the chassis

Good Luck

Dave

Damn I never replied …

So to catch it up, the issue was the bulb holders/cluster arrangement had an issue which melted the plug and somehow took the REM module with it. So even with the plug repaired and a new board/cluster still nothing.

so REM fitted and some pain getting it coded (I really wanna know how to do stuff like that) all was working and all the things that stopped working because of the used REM now work again.

and then very recently I’ve ditched the rear lights swapped to LCI rears, wired and coded etc. just front head lights to swap now.

also fitted some new front grilles which I’m particularly impressed with.
