Windscreen Cowl Cover removal question

I have already successfully replaced the 3 sided weather strip around the windscreen that covers the top and two sides. Whilst doing that I noticed that the windscreen cowl (the wider bit that goes along the bottom of the screen under the wipers etc) also needs replacing, which will be the next job. 

However I have noticed two smaller, triangular shaped pieces in the bottom right and left hand corners that seem to act a "bridge" between the windscreen weather strip and the cowl.

My question is - do these cover pieces just pull out or something more technical? I just thought I would check before I start yanking at them.
