Hi I recently bought a 320d on a 2004 plate  I was happy with said purchase until the other day it cut out without warning and would crank but not start I googled this and found it could possibly be a fuse in the EMU box a fuse was blown in the box so I changed it which then blew as soon as I turned the electric on there is 4 fuses and it's if your looking at it from the front it's the 20 amp on the first left can anyone help at all please before I put it in autoelectronics garage and it costs me a fortune thanks in advance.

Hi Chris....welcome to the Forum

I would advise taking the car to an auto electrician, as it's a 20 amp fuse which suggests that there is a short circuit to earth, which if the fuse did not blow then an electrical fire could ensue, which is definitely not a good outcome. For what it cost, and it may be quite quick that the sparky finds the fault, but without the knowledge and equipment to trace the fault it is a non-event in my mind.

Let us know what you find

Cheers,  Trevor

Apologies for the late reply busy time turns out one big wire runs out of the EMU and splits into six wires under a manifold and one of the runs near the EGR the wire had come loose and rubbed on it shorted and kept blowing a fuse. £325 quid lighter cars running although it's struggling from 3500 to 4000 revs going to check pipes to turbo/clean or blank EGR and a few other checks hopefully it will be all sorted by the end of the weekend.

Cheers

Chris
