Hello everyone.

I'm in need of some advice. I've been heavily thinking about buying an E38 735i. I live in Portugal and have found pretty much the only one in the country for sale for about 3500€ with 219,000kms on it. It seems to be in good condition and I have test driven in twice now and there are no funny sounds from what I can tell. It does have dark grey cloth seats though which I thought is strange but other than that it's fully loaded and working, even has the MkII GPS system in it. Would you go for it personally? or do you think it's low price is suspicious? What are the most common problems at that that many kms? And what problems do you guys have?

are you not able to buy one in the UK (or the rest of Europe) and take it back to Portugal, or are the taxes too high?

Only reason is that you would probably find a lot more available with lower mileages and a lot cheaper.

But otherwise, sounds like a good car but with higher mileage.

I would go that route if I could. Importing a car like that here would cost around 17k to get it legalized Portugal's taxes for car importation are ridiculous.

Ouch!!!  How much ?  that's crazy money for importing...but I suppose they're pretty much the same as other EU countries on import duties but with fewer choices by the sound of it.

In that case, it doesn't seem too bad a deal and at least it's nice and dry so no corrosion issues
