I seen a few turbo conversions done to the straight 6 engines, and seen a lot of kits available for these engine but can anyone tell me if anyone has ever done one on a 4 cylinder engine? Is there any kits available? I know most people will say to out a 325 engine in or something bigger like that, but I like to be different. Any info would be great. My car is an e36 compact with 1.9 8v engine.

I respect that you like to be different but you can spend tonnes of money building up a 4 cylinder engine with a big turbo etc only to be out ran by a standard straight 6.

BMWs are known for their big inline 6 lumps. It's kinda BMWs trademark. If you are looking for more power (why else would you turbo a car) you need to sell up the 4 cylinder and get a 6 cylinder. Any other advice will be pretty much wasted.

The only time I could understand a blown M43 engine would be in a naughty track day kit car weighing about the same as my shoe.

Hope this helps

Nice 1 Daz been on a few other sites and they say the same so looking like its a straight 6 it is.

I'm on my 4th bmw now, love them and prefere the old school, well E36 anyway and have a compact. reckon im gona look for a spares/repairs or accident damaged e36 with 2.5cc or 2.8cc, that way i get everything i need, engine, gearbox, loom.

Seen a few of these done before as well and know you have to relocate the battery in boot and change radiator for slimline, but does anyone know of any other mods that will need to be done apart from obvious suspesion, brakes etc...

Bob an Alpina V10 in it! That'll put skidz in yer pants :P
