  2. Morning Cornel Welcome to the Forum Your Gearbox is ZF GA8HP45Z which I believe ZF advise should be serviced every 60 to 100000 km dependent on environment and use (Climate Towing etc) If you feel like teasing your local BMW Dealer service manager ask him if it's sealed for life why do BMW have a gearbox service kit on their parts list 😅 Transfer case is ATC 35L Personally if it is running well and at the low miles you have it isn't an urgent priority. 12 years is a stretch I would look for a good Independent or better a ZF Transmission Specialist if you can't DIY Dave
  3. Need help identifying burnt part on water damaged Harman Becker amplifier. Part # 9320214 - model BE B220. I am trying to repair this unit and one component is burnt beyond recognition. It has 4 pins and is SMD package. Attached are pictures of where the component is on the PC board. If anyone has an amplifier that is model BE B220 or similar and could take a high resolution picture of the component so I can get the SMD code from it I can look it up.

  5. Hello. I recently bought a X1 20D auto, 2012 with 8k miles on it. I'm thinking I have to change the gearbox and transfer box oil/fluid purely because of the age of the car. BMW dealer stands by "seal for life" crap but I'm not sure what to think. It's basically 12-13 years old fluid in there. I've read previous posts about ZF recommending at 60k miles for gearbox oil and 30-60k for transfer boxes fluids. In my case, at 8k miles do I need to change it? Thanks 👍
  6. Morning Luis Welcome to the Forum You can check by using a BMW Vin decoder website put in your Vin number and it will bring up the build sheet for your car. If the car is Bluetooth equipped you will find either SA633 or SA644 codes, if they are there then the car is Bluetooth equipped. Two things will stop it working (1) The Bluetooth memory is full 4 phones I think. (2) the Telematics unit in the Boot/Trunk left side is not working If your not seeing a Bluetooth function then it will be the Telematics unit and its antenna. First check the boot area left side if the telematic unit is there unplug it and get the part number from it then use Google to source a replacement If your car was not Bluetooth equipped check the left boot are for a connector taped up in the loom in that area if it is there you may just need the parts. Then if you want it to be OEM use www.realoem.com to get the part numbers and source the equipment, it should be pretty much plug and play. The alternative is an after market Bluetooth kit Dave
  7. Morning Matija Part of the Comfort access system then 😁 If you try www.realoem.com and put in the cars Vin (last 7 digits) it will bring up your model then reach the sections for the correct part and part number, once you have the part double click the part number and you will get a list of any alternatives and models they were used on Great find Dave

  9. An elderly friend has a 1990's 96 i think 750i that has stood for a few years. Looking to sell. It needs work, fuel lines corroded. Will need cleaning up. This is a man who has always had it serviced etc. He doesn't know whats best to do sale wise or price so thought I'd come here and ask advice or if anyone serious may be interested?
  10. Have a 2010 X3 but the Bluetooth option is not activated. Can it be done?
  11. I found out, it's a suppression filter.. I had a problem that the key didn't unlock the car, and one wire got out of that part that feeds the module from the antenna for the key and the central locking
  12. Morning Matija Welcome to the Forum It may be part of the CAS (Comfort Access System) but I have never pulled an X1 to bits so it is a guess, It may also be part of the Alarm system or the Fuel Pump Control unit What symptoms are you getting ? or have you found it and wonder what it does ? Dave
  13. Hi Dave, Thanks for the reply and the welcome. Car has only done 33k miles with full service history - never any issues. The tuner in question will be DMS automotive, I believe they are established and have done various things with Carwow and Top Gear. Slightly on the higher end price wise but believe it would be stupid to cheap out on something like this. I also don't plan on being a boy racer, I just want the extra power for the odd over take and to prevent the delays from the automatic gearbox. Thanks again for the help! Seb

  15. Hi Seb Welcome to the Forum First make sure the engine is in Tip Top condition and well serviced (don't forget Transmission and Diff) if it is then you should have no issues. I would ask how many they have done and see if you can talk to other owners Most problems occur when ECU tuning is carried out on a mechanically sad engine and it then gets heavily used, result an engine failure with the tuning blamed. Most issues are heavy right foot is my experience Dave
  16. Hi all, New to this but was looking for some advice. I was thinking about remapping my car to stage one. It's a BMW 320i G20 model from 2019 with a B48B20A engine, stock BHP is just 184. Has anyone got any experience with this? Not looking to blow up my engine after 2000 miles. A few companies have quoted a push up to 307bhp from a stage one with no hardware changes. This seems excessive and definitely not reliable - car will likely go boom. Torque is currently around 300 and they are predicting an increase to around 460nm. Will I likely have to use premium fuel after this tune as well? I'm not too sure on any of these things really and advice or pointers would be appreciated, thanks!
  17. Sounds a bit like our house Wife Daughter(at least she only visits now) 4 dogs (Female !!) Horses (2 Mares) I have lived my life in a cloud of PMT 😂 You will get used to it 🤣 Always remember it's quieter in the Garage and if someone comes into the garage swear and they clear off 🤣🤣 Always works for me Dave
  18. Morning Kevin In the South East Main Dealer rates are in excess of £200+ p/h even my local Specialist is over £100, I think that is a great incentive to DIY Cars have always been my recreational release and like you I only help Friends and Family Dave
  19. …. It’s like 3 teenage women in my house now…. problem is… ones in her 40’s… one is 2 and the other is a car! it’s got to be something with the boot wiring, it’s only happened some I changed that. I think I just need time and peace to work out what’s wrong. then open the bonnet though the grilles again! 😂… then who knows!
  20. Thanks. Dread to think what the cost would have been! I’d estimate at least 1.5hrs labour if tank was required to be lowered, no idea what Stealerships hourly rate is. It only took me as long as it did as I was doing on my drive a week after surgery. Worst part was undoing the T60 bolt on rear brace (caused pain in site of surgery) Used to be £65 P/H at a main agent Ford stealership where I worked some 22yrs ago, no idea what current labour rates are as I do (selective) work myself on occasions. No longer do private work, only immediate family cars (Wife/Son/Daughter’s mk8 Fiesta/Toyota GT86/2015 Mini)
  21. Only selling as have replaced with a 2021 M135i xdrive
  22. It’s manual 150k miles, I have owned this car since 2012, immaculate
  23. Can someone help me, whats the name or number of this part. I cant find it. Its located in the side wall off the beck seat.
  24. Morning Stu Going back over note's there were a stack of problems in the early E53's with Magneti Marelli starter motors being the culprit try the clamp meter on the starter cable. Also worth checking the Voltage regulator as they can give issues as well Also worth checking that the loom in your boot lid hasn't had a dodgy repair Dave She will misbehave until you get rid of the Porker 🤣
  25. Morning James Google the Register of BMW Dismantlers (Quarry Motors have always been useful). For my E53 4.6is I used a local Carpet Fitter he made up a full set for me all edges trimmed and including non slip velcro patches. He used the OEM mats as patterns and off cuts from a Dark Grey High Quality Wilton carpet he had fitted, cost was less than half OEM gave the car a new smell for ages. Dave
  26. Hi all, I bought a 2020 G31 a month ago and I’d like to replace at least the driver’s floor mat or all of them. I do like the OEM ones but don’t want to pay full price from BMW for replacements. What other options has anyone used? I do like how they have the Velcro patches on the reverse so ideally any alternatives would have the same. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I’ve purchased 3rd party mats for other vehicles in the past and have always been disappointed. Thanks again.
  27. Thank you for the explanation, much appreciated. I've booked the car in at my local garage.
