  4. Selling number plate 'X5 MNT' Just gauging interest, willing to listen to offers.
  5. The old "un plug it and restart" 🤣 Glad it was that simple dave
  6. Hi Dave, thank you for your message and tips. Long story short the problem was actually with my phone. I went to my local garage and they placed their own mobile on the charging pad and it worked, unlike my phone. I tried the equivalent of control alt delete, switched the phone off and on and lo and behold it started working!! Cost: no charge. Thank you for trying to help. Regards Paul

  9. Hi Dave I was nervous before about having the DPF tampered with, even more so now. They removed the turbos last week and sent them off for refurb this week while they are on holiday. I'll speak to them on Monday and ask them not to mess with the DPF. I had the EGR and cooler replaced by a main dealer about 2 years / 8k miles ago and that's when the problems with burning oil smell in the cabin started. Last year I read online that a burning oil smell is not uncommon with the N47 due to oil leaks from the valve cover onto the exhaust. It's hard to see the edge of the valve cover because of the vacuum tanks and control devices but I had a look underneath and noticed the DPF was covered in oil. When I hooked up my scanner to bleed the fuel system I noticed codes relating to exhaust temp upstream of the cat. I replaced the sensor and all seemed well, then the EGR air plausibility codes started, then the charging pressure control and then limp mode. I'll make sure I take it for a decent run regularly. If the turbos last another 50,000 miles they'll probably outlive me. Cheers Jim
  10. Ah so it is oil, thankfully I checked this and all good. I'll make a mental note to change this at oil change time. Thanks for the advice.
  11. Hi Jim My experience with my own E70 3.0d which I brought very cheap as an MOT fail due to DPF being tampered with. Is the EGR had become clogged and that had caused the same situation as your in, the old owner removed the EGR and DPF then fitted a refurbished Turbo. The MOT fail drove him over the edge and he just wanted rid of the car. I got a used EGR and cooler plus a used DPF from Quarry Motors, had both professionally cleaned then fitted and a little faffing around reprogramming and I have a very cheap E70 3.0sd which has passed 3 MOT's now. For information I brought the E70 as a project and to keep the miles down on my E53 4.6is. Most of my journeys these days are less than 10 or 15 miles but once a week I give it a Motorway run of about 45mins and so far so good. As said if an MOT Station suspect the car has been tampered with it's a fail. As your DPF has been regenerating personally I would keep it Good luck Dave
  12. Morning Dave I'll bear that in mind. I do the occasional long run but maybe need to do so more regularly. The car didn't smoke and according to my scan tool the DPF have been regenerating. When the turbo guy explained that the root cause was the DPF and said he could "cure" it, I asked about the risk of MOT failure. He reckons that the emissions without a DPF are way below the limit and that his particular fix is not detectable. I'm not so sure now. He said something about drilling a hole somewhere but that doesn't sound like it's undetectable to me...
  13. Hi Ken Wow lucky man 😁 As the car has been stored and Aircon systems loose a little each year anyway my first thought would be try getting it serviced (Kwik fit have summer deals) The machines used vacuum out and check for leaks if it wont hold a vacuum the machine wont try and re=gas the system. My local BMW Specialist has a mobile guy come in (£65 for my E70) Good hunting for a specialist Dave
  14. Morning Jim Just be aware that if an MOT Garage suspect a DPF delete it's an automatic fail plus it's logged so going elsewhere wont work Better solution is just give it a good run once a month in my opinion then no risk of MOT fail Dave
  15. Just one. Really wierdly, it connected yesterday! Going to see what happens later when I try again and see if it works.
  16. Thanks Dave - just noticed your post as Outlook has been filing the notification in Junk Mail. I took it to a local turbo specialist who specialize in diagnosing root cause of turbo faults/failures. They advised that the actuator that switches between the high and low pressure turbos was not holding vacuum. He said he could try replacing it but that wouldn't fix the underlying problem. He pointed out that there was oil in the intercooler pipes and recommended have both turbos refurbished. Apparently, the soot build up in the DPF caused by short trips reduces airflow in the exhaust which increases the pressure on the hot side of the turbo. The seals in the hot/low pressure side are prone to leak if the exhaust pressure increases and the leaking oil is carbonized which further damages the seals. His explanation makes sense to me and I didn't want to pay to have the actuator replaced only to have further problems in the near future. The turbos have been removed and sent for refurb and I'm expecting a bill of around £2,500 ☹️. I asked if the refurbed turbos would fail again if I keep doing short trips and he said not if I ask him to "delete" the DPF.
  17. Hi and welcome. How many phones are registered on the stereo? my works van did the same until I deleted all the other phones and just relearned the ones I use
  18. Hi all, I have a 2023 G21. My works phone will connect to the car straight away. My own phone, a Pixel Pro 9 will not. I have tried forgetting the car in my phone settings, the car does not have the phone stored in it's memory. It connects for a split second then immediately disconnects. Interestingly, it won't register as a digital key either. Before I head off to BMW and look foolish, would anyone be able to offer a suggested fix please? Thanks
  19. HI Folks, After an 8 month search finally found a cracking M365csi with no real rust! Only issue apart from the terrible headlights that make night driving a bit scary is that the aircon doesn't work. Lots of glass which is great for visibility but does get hot in there! Seller assured me it used to work but it's been stored unused for a while so maybe leaking? Anyone recommend a really good auto aircon specialist that they would trust with a 39 year old car - somewhere near High Wycombe preferably. thanks Ken
  20. Hi Paul I would guess the oil level sensor is on its way out the only PITA is you cant change it without draining the sump so Oil change time job. Dave
  21. HI all, I am being displayed this image on the dash LED when I turn the car off. Cannot find it referenced anywhere and it seems to show both an oil can and a level indicator as the oil has been checked and is fine as is the rad. Can anyone advise please.
  22. Morning Edward Welcome to the Forum I have to admit I am ignorant of the later 7 series cars but Westfailia were BMW's OEM choice as suppliers. So my starting point would be to find a Westfailia specialist and talk to them Hope this helps Dave
  23. Has anyone found a manufactured trailer hitch that fits or is easily modified to fit a G12? OR Can someone show me pics of their custom made hitch?

  25. Morning Paul Welcome to the Forum First point of call check the fuse diagram and fuses if that doesn't fix it then a Diagnostic Scan is needed by a Dealer £££ an Independent a Specialist or someone with a BMW capable scan tool A quick look at ISTA WIS shows fuses 120 and 128 are phone related Hope this helps Dave
  26. Morning Lissa Welcome to the Forum I guess the first step is getting an estimate of cost to repair, then measure that against cost of changing the car One of our sons (a tree surgeon) had his pick up written off by driver who claimed it was parked in a dangerous spot ?? Straight road two wheels on the grass verge and warning signs out as they were working as well, Police checked the guys phone records he was texting at the time ?? Hope you find away to get the car sorted Dave Sunny Sussex UK (and it is today 😊
  27. Hi Sadly someone t-boned my luxury SUV leaving me two options: To find someone to repair the rear quarter panel or to sell the entire wreck. The engine and all body parts, interior seats, etc are in excellent condition and well maintained with all service receipts since new. Left rear passenger door hit in front of wheel well. Possibly some axle disassembly requiring welding. Alignment of vehicle and body 85% excellent condition. No twist or distortion. All ideas welcomed. I'm still getting over being incredibly grumpy that some idiot didn't drive as safely as I do. Sunshine Coast Queensland Australia
  28. Morning Stuart Welcome aboard Dave
  29. The mobile charging tray on my 330i has stopped working. Any ideas what the problem might be?
  30. Good morning from another Stuart! welcome aboard. I also enjoy mountain biking, having owned a couple of bike businesses in the past.
