  4. New seat adjuster in and a new alternator fitted…. 2 hours of Saturday unavailable for shopping…. Great stuff! Productive day… now I can get in the car and charging is happening! Although the car is reading 11.0 when running… took it for a blat and it got up to 14.1 so I’ll give it a good charge today and hopefully it keeps the battery charged. @Greydog thank you for your knowledge as always.
  5. Cheers Dave, it appeared to have frayed on the outside. I have ordered a new tensioner and will fit. I think it might be something to do with the pulley sticking. In hindsight I should have done the lot at the time I replaced the belt. I think I was too miffed that the garage didn’t notice it on a major service! thanks for your help
  6. Morning James Welcome to the Forum If you are not aware check www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then search the sections (not sure if it will be in Trim or Electrical) for the correct Part Number. When you have it search the Internet for the best supply Good Luck Dave
  7. Morning Dan Welcome to the Forum That doesn't look right, was the belt that came off fraying on the inside or outside (very disappointing the garage didn't pick it up) is it catching somewhere I wonder? If changing drive belts I change tensioners and water pump while I am in there. Never don it on a 116d though Dave

  12. Hi, my headlight has gone on my ‘07 1 Series - loads of moisture in the light, seal has gone. Took it to local BMW specialist who said I need parts 63 11 7 181 295 and 63 11 7 181 296 (as I thought best to get both replaced due to age) as they are the adaptive/halo style. Ebay and internet search shows they are difficult to get hold of, and approx £1k each if new. Does anyone know where to get these parts in the UK at a sensible price, or if lower cost headlight units can be used - I’m not bothered re the adaptive function, just want working headlights that don’t cost more than the car value! Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

  15. Hi all, I have just had a major service on my 1 series 116d (2021). The day after I checked under the car as a cat went under it. Whilst looking my ancillary belt seems to have started to shred. I have changed the belt and ever since there has been a clicking noise. The tensioner is also going ten to the dozen. I’m not sure if it was there before or not! Has anyone seen/heard this? Thanks in advance. IMG_6285.mov

  24. Afternoon all, Just collected the X3 from the local (and brilliant) independent - the wing mirror switch over and lens transplant completed - all good and I ended up with a bill for an hour's work which am completely satisfied with. Have just bought another wing mirror for the right side so that will be switched also and will have the plastic cowling both sides re-sprayed to match. Superb job again by AP lads in Colchester.

Morning Gary Welcome to the Forum Looks very pretty and it seems your not afraid to raid the piggy bank looking after it ENJOY Tyres you can fit Non-runflat tyres to runflat rims but not the other way round, it will allow a greater choice of tyre. As your car is Xdrive you need to ensure tyres are correct sizes or you will be raiding the piggy bank for transmission repairs. Not sure about the last part of your post are you selling parts or looking to buy another E46 ? Dave

Thought I’d introduce myself. Bought my x6 4 months ago, and had to immediately change the timing chain. also had to change the tyres for Pirelli p zero runflats. I’d read that you couldn’t put normal tyres on, so contacted bmw uk who sent me to main dealer. Checked with them, and apparently you can put normal tyres on , so will swap to Michelin ps4 and get a compressor and the liquid for them. Changed the oil filter gasket last week, and am now saving up to have the rod bearings, suspension, brakes and bushes done. I bought the car with 2 previous owner, 152k with 10 services done, and other than the issues described, it does 29 or so to the gallon. Here’s a pic. I bought this, as had an e46 325ci, that I had spent 7k on parts for, and had it on a driveway that was private land. It was sorned, but dvla fined me £750 and gave me 7 days to tax it, as they said the land was public. Tried desperately to find a home for it, but couldn’t so had to scrap it😢 I still have the parts, and will have to sell them if I can’t find another car cheap.

  38. Morning Paul Oh Oh sounds as though the condensation/water has got into the electrics. It may be possible to dismantle the unit and change the controls, I would check realoem to see if parts are swappable Dave
