  2. Anyone having major issues with their PHEV x5 SME issues causing major faults BMW say all is good be interested to know if this is a one off or a major manufacturer issue
  3. Hi Paul Carpets are a "Touch and Feel" purchase in my mind for my wife's Subaru I had a local Carpet fitter make up a set. He did a great job all edges taped and stitched and the non slip pads on the back he was able to get the car mats out of off cuts (Contract quality Wilton in Beige). He charged around half the cost of Subaru direct might be worth tracking down a fitter and asking Another thought are Guys like Quarry Motors but again you would be buying unseen but at least they know what OEM BMW mats are. Dave
  4. S24 Ultra is QI charging compatible (which I belive the factory fitted OEM charging tray is) I have a QI wireless charger in the house for it. Like I say I get a Blue LED when I put the phone it the tray, but doesn't seem to want to charge, will borrow a friend's phone and try that. Thanks
  5. Hi Guys I have an E92 330d with 150k on I’m having the swirl flaps deleted and it’s booked in for a gearbox service next month, other than regular servicing is there anything else I should be doing (preventative or otherwise) thanks Daz.
  6. Morning Hans If the fault is EWS or CAS related I think you need to read up on resetting/resyncing the Key/EWS/CAS or if your diagnostics are up to it re-programming them. As you have a donor nearby maybe take the EWS and Keys ? Fingers crossed it is fairly simple and a reset works Dave
  7. Morning Shawn Welcome to the Forum Lucky son 😁 Even Dealers technicians (they don't call them mechanics anymore so they can charge more 🤣) can be clumsy rock apes at times. With the Xdrive cars correct sized tyres are essential to protect the Xdrive transfer case, diffs etc Hope your boy appreciates his car Dave

  9. Afternoon Darren Just your BMW telling you that you needed a Dealers help 😅 Or hoping to scare you into their arms Try a Parking Brake reset, as you only changed pads a Soft Reset should work Turn on the ignition. Hold down the parking sensor button for 3-5 seconds until you hear a beep. Release the button, and the system will reset Hope that does it for you Dave

  11. Morning Robin Welcome to the Forum By the sound of things you need a coil over kit for standard ride height with adjustable shocks. Playing with bump and rebound settings should allow a more supple ride, though wheels and tyres are a big part of the overall equation. Bilstien are a well established reliable name that has been around for years so if the kit has been developed for the car should be a good choice, lots of other kits out there with a wild price range but personally suspension tyres and brakes really are not worth cutting corners with. Dave
  12. Morning Rob Welcome to the Forum As with most cars in reasonable condition and with an MOT it is worth the market value, check the Auction sites and local adds. Without an MOT it is scrap value as it can't be driven some recyclers may even charge to collect it. Reading your post it seems like you have already made a decision. Personally I would fix it and sell it or maybe carry on using it but then I do all my own maintenance on our cars and its a hobby not a chore Dave
  13. Thanks Dave, will have a look sooner than expected!
  14. Morning Clifford Welcome to the Forum If you are not aware take a look at www.realoem.com put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box, it will bring up your model then look in the Exhaust section The only part I am aware of BMW call a "fixing Bow" it goes on the rear silencer flap actuator assembly Good luck Dave
  15. Thanks Dave, will enquire further. Thanks for the reply.
  16. Good to know Dave, Thanks! If I can't use them on the fob I'll put em on something. Here Kitty Kitty:)
  17. Been a while, forgot to update sorry. Turned out to be the belt tensioner pulley at fault, bearing was goosed. Hope this helps some people.
  18. Hi Geoff Welcome to the Forum I would think that buying in Canada is like the UK History, History, History then making sure everything works as it should Hope this helps Dave
  19. Morning Oliver Welcome to the Forum Taking your points in order 1. Simple answer NO the gas struts assist and hold the tailgate open but were never designed to open it. A powered tailgate is a different beast altogether, not sure if you can retrofit a powered tailgate if all the loom is there it should be possible but someone with software will need to enable it. 2. Pan roofs were/are well known for their problems, there are repair kits available but if you are not into DIY it may be best to talk to a specialist check the register of BMW Specialists they are normally about half Dealer costs 3. I take it you have checked all bulbs and there is no sign of corrosion were the bulbs mount. I would check the loom where it passes from the tailgate into the body near the hinges it isn't unknown for wires to crack and break after years of opening and closing the tailgate. A fairly straight forward repair depending on your soldering skills. you will need to remove trim to carry out repairs Hope this helps Dave

  21. Hi Stuart Welcome to the Forum If you aren't aware take a look at www.realoem.com it is a BMW online parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model then look in the Trim section You should find small exploded drawings that will give you an idea of how things fit together. My guess would be either something like a broken clip or something loose. Good Luck Dave
  22. Thanks for the feedback Dave, really helpful stuff. I bet your friends and family are pleased you are sorted when it comes to puncture repair kits to keep them on the road. I like the sound of a puncture plug kit & tyre weld for screws and suchlike issues to help stay moving. Sidewall rupture is a flatbed for now, but I'm definitely going with non RFT in 17 months for the next M40d which I really enjoy driving. Ironically, we were in Arundel, W.Sussex when I got the recent pot hole blow out, so know exactly what you mean, I could not believe the state of the roads in the south of England to be honest, it was like wacky races avoiding pot holes on any main roads. We live in sunny N. Yorkshire and don't suffer from quite so many holes in the roads. Thank you for the information, but interestingly, I have already logged a claim for vehicle damage (tyre) with W. Sussex CC when I got home, their website says it can take 24 weeks before they even look at it... I'll wait and plan for the fight. Cheers Jon
  23. Morning Kiernan Welcome to the Forum Something in the clutch is wearing or loose and will need investigation would be my guess Gearbox out job to repair Dave
  24. Hi Dave, I’ve actually gone for EBC grooved discs with yellowstuff pads. Just thought it would look a little beefier whilst still benefitting from good performance and longevity. Stu👍
  25. Any Progress William ??? Dave
  26. Hi Kor Welcome to the Forum As your under an extended Warranty fingers crossed it will be plain sailing and fixed Keep us up to date Dave
  27. Morning Damion I would say yes to the software update (but a Dealer will charge £££) this should be in iDrive try My Vehicle, Vehicle Settings, Doors/Key, then scroll down to mirrors and check Fold Mirrors when Locked If that doesn't work you need help from someone with a BMW capable diagnostic package (ISTA/INPA) to check if it is in a hidden menu. Be aware BMW are making it harder and harder to tinker with the cars mainly after 2019 year so you should be OK Dave
  28. Morning Rob His was in the car when he brought it and is OEM (car is BMW 330e 2019) apparently works well with his iPhone but not with our daughters Android phone. You could talk to your Dealer but make sure your wallet is in a protected spot 😁 as I have know idea of cost ££££. If BMW are fitting them then there will be Retro fit kits out there from the Far east so worth looking at the Auction sites but I have no knowledge of quality other than the screen in the X5 failed and I replaced it with a complete Android unit from Ebay at less than a 1/3rd of the BMW quote. Truly plug and play allows switching between the OEM CiC and Android gives better GPS and many other programs and has been totally reliable for the last 3 years (that's killed it ) Me I don't spend long enough in the car for my phone to need charging these days 😅 While the X5 has Android Auto and Carplay I have to say like a lot of gadgets they are rarely used. Bluetooth is the only thing I see as an essential Good Luck with the search for a solution Dave
