  2. Hi all… can someone confirm I’m not being stupid please. our French people carrier is doing my head in! its abs light is on and I’m trying to pinpoint the issue. plug the computer in (proper autel fr704 french poo jobbie ) and it tells me 1 fault is abs P2FOD code… now, it tells me to refer to the service manual, which tells me nothing else. So I put it on live data and turn each front wheel.. I’m getting a read out on the speed. Both seem good… both rear wheels are not giving any live speed readings. If I disconnect the lhs rear sensor, I get 2 faults.. one is the original and one is telling me the left is disconnected. Remover the right and only one fault, rhs disconnected…. Thus if I’m correct, the problem must be the rhs abs sensor. The module must be ok as it can distinguish if I have disconnected the sensor. … I have now changed the sensor, the brake disc, which has the reluctor ring on it and the holding plate for the sensor on the rhs, but I still get the one fault. It’s going for its mot next week I’m about to have a nervous breakdown with it! what am I missing? …. Clearly it’s not a bmw, which is a good enough reason! … never had this issue with my X5 lol.

  8. Morning Oliver Welcome to the Forum As far as I am aware they should be Tilt and Slide. There were some well documented incidence of them failing over the years and they can be a pain to fix from what I have read. Never done one personally, that may explain your specialists reaction. You could use a Vin Decoder to get the original build sheet the item to look for is S402A electric powered roof Dave

  11. Hi again Dave. Peace at almost any price can often be a relatively life changing compromise !!
  12. Hello Zat Welcome to the Forum Is your Warranty/Protection plan with BMW or an Aftermarket Company ? If it is an After market Warranty then they will just require proof of service to support the Warranty. There is a register of BMW Specialist's in the UK Google will help generally their Labour rates are around half that of BMW Dealers but they do have the knowledge and equipment to carry out all service and repairs needed Experience tells me most Service our selves statements mean Oil and Filter as the cars iDrive system records service intervals against time/distance it probably hasn't been touched. Even Dealers tend to record the service electronically and on the iDrive these days so you may have to ask for the service book to be stamped 😁 Progress Personally I have never trusted Extended service intervals and always carry out a full service annually Good Luck with finding a Specialist and enjoy your new car Dave
  13. Then you need the same box or you will need the skills and equipment to re program the gearbox ECU so it can communicate with the Engine DDE and several other of the cars ECU's The box that is in there has the fluid level been checked ? If a bump causes disconnect I would also check the loom Take a look at www.realoem.com it is an online BMW parts list put the last 7 digits of the Vin into the search box it will call up your Model. Then search the gearbox section, if you double click the part number (in Blue) it will bring up a list of other models the box was used in, if nothing their then choice is limited I am afraid Dave
  14. Hi all Need a recommendation of an individual or garage in the Gloucester Area who knows about BMW engines and who might be willing to look at it. on the codes it mentions that cylinders 4 and 5 have a misfire!! Thanks
  15. Morning Mike Welcome to the Forum You could try disconnecting the Battery (Neg lead first) for about 30 mins (a Dealer trick) if that doesn't reset things then a Diagnostic session may be the only way Good Luck Dave
  16. Morning Duncan Welcome to the Forum Ooops some trim removal required to change it not heard of the bezel breaking changed a few on earlier cars that were faulty Good Luck Dave
  17. Morning Kelvin Welcome to the Forum Which Temp Sensor ? If you are looking at the Coolant sensor Yellow with a Red trace and Black I believe Dave
  18. The 50e I HAD did not have the trailering package from the factory and would not allow a weight distribution hitch with sway control. Because of that, I now have a 2025 X5 XDrive 40i with the factory towing package that will allow the weight distribution/ sway control hitch. This works well.
  19. To wrap this up, - my X5 was stolen from my driveway a few weeks ago. The white smoke at start-up is now somebody else's problem. ( Probably a turbo oil seal. ) The car was moved to a secluded location and the built-in tracker was disabled. The BMW app showed it about 5Km from my house but when the police went there there was no car to be found. I'd put a new transfer box into it which was €5K but thankfully didn't have the turbo reconditioned (€2k). Waiting for the insurance money. Probably will go for a 2019 3 Series 330i hybrid. My days of sitting high at the lights are over :-(
  20. Well, my 2016 X5 was stolen from my driveway last month. They got into my house and took the spare key. I used the BMW app to locate the car about 5 Km from my home but that was the location where the thieves disabled the tracker and moved the car on. Probably in parts now, or in a container bound for Dubai. Jokes on them though. The turbo is due to let go any day now...
  21. I’ve recently had a brake service, they’ve noted the rear pads needs replacing indicated as red and rear discs on amber. The car has currently done 24k, I’m curious why the rear discs and pads have gone already. im wanting to find out if anyone else has had this issue, also if anyone know the minimum thickness for each? The car is 1 series f40 2021 image stating current results
  22. Is there a 12v socket in the trunk? Can you remove the rear lights and input 12v that way?
  23. Cheers for the suggestions Stu, I’ll get them checked
  24. Where is the radio amplifier in the 2016 318d touring? I have an intermittent fault.
  25. I have a 1993 325i BMW interior not so good, exterior is fine. Runs, has a slight transmission slip. I am trying to sell it. How much is it worth approximately?
  26. all good boys and thanks for the advice. Seems I am not alone. Will take a look and plan a method and report back.
  27. Morning Mark Welcome to the Forum Check www.realoem.com it is a BMW parts list put the last 7 digits of your Vin into the search box it will call up your model, then search the Exhaust section I believe they are available in Black Chrome not sure about Carbon but once you have the correct part number even a search of the After market will be easier as the supplier will know the correct fitment (or should) Good Luck Dave
