  1. Be careful with the current contents. It stinks because of the bacteria so you dont want it splashing in your face. I use a pump to drain it all out then power blast with hose. Pump out again and then fill with fresh stuff.

  2. Your right. It seems your not the only one who has had DVLA list it incorrectly. I bet your insurance company have it as a 2993cc.

I think DVLA get confused by the 535 having a 3.0 litre engine and not a 3.5.

  3. The light will go out if the problem does not occur after several restarts however the codes are probably still stored in the ECU. It probably had a momentary loss of fuel pressure due to the tank being low and you accellarating hard.

I wouldn't worry about it but if you want you may want to get the codes read. I wouldn't go to BMW for a diagnostics though as they charge silly money. If I lived anywhere near you I would put my code reader on it for you.

  4. Welcome along Andrew. The car looks nice. Its a lot of power in a small car so it will shift. The engine should be fine as its difficult to thrash one of those without getting locked up or killing yourself. Tax is expensive as are the tyres if they are run flats. Check those for tread, check brake wear and for any noise around the suspension.

M Sport suspension is jaw breaking,. Fun if your not in the car a lot but if you live in the car its hard to put up with.

    Good luck

  5. had the same problem ,ended up by letting a small independent BMW garage install

even they said it was a problem to do cost about £60 official garage wanted £150

This forum is NVG suggest you try X Bimmers they have a lot about X1 but mainly Americans

    adding bits and pieces etc

    Thanks I dont think.

It looks like some have disconnected their fogs to power the DLR's which is a bit pointless. I take it you dont have the Day Light running Angel Eyes because you could have piggy backed these. Alternatively try getting the wireing in under the dash. As the drain is so low you should find something under the dash that is permanent live to link to.

  6. Welcome to the club Alan.

There could be a number of factors involved. When was the last time the car had a full service done on it?

The whisteling could just be the alternator having to work hard initially because your battery is starting to struggle in the cold weather.
