  4. Ok, i have a fitment based question. Id like a bit more dish up front than the 19 x 8.5 et 35 flavour that these wheels come in. I was wondering if i could get away with 19 x 9.5 et33 on the front? It seems the option for rear is 19 x 10 et32. Can i get away with this or do i need to start thinking about arch modifications? Id like to avoid that so would just go for the 8.5s if i had to. Hi guys So not that long ago i became a member of the BMW fraternity after years of Japanese ownership and picked myself a tidy E92 335D with a few AC Schnitzer bits. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/George106xsi/20140208_161145_zpse3d5aa09.jpg But im just not getting on with the wheels, i really like the way they look but theyre 20" and profile 30 rubber and the roads up my way arent the best. So what id like to do is drop down to 19" and use the money from selling these wheels to cover the cost of the new ones. Id price them sensibly (they seem to be 1k up on ebay!) plus i have 5 wheels which is pretty rare! Anyway, im in a predicament as to what wheel to go for and am hoping people might have experience or even pictures they could share.   7. Im a design engineer in the automotive industry mainly working with one off or limited run show cars or concept cars designing mechanisms. Ive been in the same job for 3 years, my first job since uni and still loving it :-D
  8. Yeah i think if all goes well with the test drive of the ACS3 this weekend it will be going in for some preventative maintenance for peace of mind. Other than that its like any turbo i guess, always allow to warm up and cool down, regularly check the oil and regularly change the oil. Just want to make sure i dont get stung with a few k worth of issues immediately. The thing is, with the price being a bit lower because of the miles its just a case of accepting that maybe 1 or 2k will be required at some point but thats probvably the same with any car these days. Not like my drift car where i can get another box for 200, fit myself and run it for a year until it goes again lol

Hey, i found it, i call dibs lol Tyre wear isnt a big problem coming from V8 and welded diff im used to regular replacements, and same goes for a firm ride, im not sure id notice coming from my car, i certainly hope it wouldnt be worse! For me its the gearbox i guess that would be an issue with higher mileage car, on my current car id just replace it but all the electronics and componentry makes me think it would be expensive to replace, along with the clutch. How long do these normally last for? Whats the change they made in 2008 that made the gearboxes better? Is it ok driving on these boxes day to day? Are there little quirks that make it a pain in the ##### and a reason to go manual? We had a 5 series with flappy paddle box as a pool car that i drove and that could be a pain at times. Do these have a cambelt or cam chain? Is it a big deal when these cars tip over the 100k mark or are we talking reliable running until 160k? This car does blur the lines between SE and M sport as obviously body and suspension are all already upgraded hence why i get a little confused haha. (sorry for the interrogation)
  10. Hi guys So, im looking at buying an E90 335D (as the title suggested) but am new to BMWs and to buying a newer car. Mr. Beemer has offered some advice in my new member thread and said i should be aware of: DPF, 1st turbo actuator and gearbox filter. Is it possible to check these things when looking at a car or is it something you just need to buy a car and replace them as a matter of course to prevent possible faults? Is there anything else i should be looking out for. or anything that goes at a particlar mileage? For the spec level of the car are there any must have options? Id like to have one with satnav, is the unit pretty good or would i be better off buying a garmin or something? I was also wondering what the different is between the SE and sport models? Is there a major fundamental difference other than the body styling? Im looking at sport models because i prefer the look but a few crop up that are SE with sport bumpers. Im wondering what the difference would be.   12. Hi Guys So, a little about me, ive been into the modifying scene for a long time, pretty much since i started driving. I currently drive a 200SX that i swapped a 4.0 Lexus V8 into: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opIapTKhikc&feature=c4-overview&list=UUlimRWQ7SSSnOz1LSmBbUFA But recently after moving to Norwich my commute has got too long for a car with a non original engine and returning about 20mpg. Looking at the finances i thought it was time to grow up and invest a bit of money into a nice car whilst offsetting the cost with improved mpg. It had to be something that i would enjoy driving and would make me look back after i get out. 3 cars stood out that do this for me, E92 335D, 635D and E class Coupe (can i say this round these parts? lol) Now that actually buying one is becoming a reality i need to do some research. The cars im used to buying involve checking for rust, leaks and chassis quality but for new cars im a bit stumped! Other than the usual checks it seems like the important thing is to check for what extras the car has, spec levels and stuff like that. So, after this long winded essay!!..... On the 635D and 335D are there any problems to look out for? Any extra bits of equipment that are a must have? Sorry for the wishy washy question, i did a quick search and there didnt seem to be anything definitive. Anyway, a lengthy introduction and hope you can help me out. Thanks very much Maccy
