  1. Iv booked it off work =D And thanks to my dads business we're exempt from the hose pipe ban so i can still wash my car for it =p
  2. Hedgehog mate. Mine was the same except i ddnt leave it 10 months lol OCD u see... =p Changed it and now works B.E.A.utivley =D
  3. Haha nice one! Mines bad enough on petrol and iv got half as many cycliners =p
  4. Hi Barry. Theres not much you can do i found to a 318 without spending a load of cash.. I had a 318is as my first car at 17 so i did as much as i could on a budget. Simple things like: A good full service... Induction Kit A big bore throttle body I had a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold with a Decat and Sebring exhaust ( made such a difference ) And a remap. All in all i probably gained an extra 30-40hp. But it did sound atleast like an M3 - in my opinion, better! But make sure u do the remap last! On the more expensive side - i ended up uprating both cams but that was only because i did it myself ( lost it in the snow a month later ) And one thing i wanted to do was a Downing Atlanta Supercharger. But these are worth more than the car.. For the same money you could just buy a 328 - which i did =p
  5. Easy peasy.. 4 bolts in the boot and two little ones at the edge in the wheel arch. Make sure when putting back on you slot the bumper onto the two holders either side of the car or otherwise it wont seat properly =D
  6. Is anyone attending Wheels Day tomorrow in Aldershot? Please dont let me go on my own =( If anyone wants to meet cars need to enter the arena before 10:00 to get a good spot. Ill be arriving about 8-8:30 to give the car a final wipe down before the public arrive. Doesnt matter if your cars not show worthy.. Would just be nice to have collection of Bmw's My number is: 07522 970575
  7. Well that was a dissappointment... Cosmetics and top mounts? I was hoping for vanos repairs or clutch changes =(
  8. Apart from: Head gaskets on its way out, Valve cover gasket leaking, Engine rattle.. Clutch thrust bearing going, 2 cracked Alloys from a pot hole the other day ( now on e36 M3 alloys ) Leaking coilover from same pothole.. ( now back on standard suspension ) My cars great! =D shame its not looking quite as good atm =( This car has had pretty much every common problem an e36 suffers from in my year of ownership.. And yet i still wont sell it =p
  9. Im watching and recording it lol i hope they change the exhaust though from standard... Im thinking either to a reuter race system or eisenmann! At the very least a heywood and scott!
  10. Ahh thanks chaz! Not what i wanted to hear =( The night i was there, there was a hugh police presence and they allowed us to play which i hugely respected them for.. Got away racing at 100+ mph .. But get pulled on the way home for having too loud a car =S Mind you, i was driving a V8 with open headers =p
  11. Now thats saying something ian =p iv noticed your extensive knowledge throughout the forum!
  12. Wife? Im only 22 =p can only afford the insurance on the car let alone a wedding haha Nah the girlfriend knows her place =D
  13. Sorry mate, i missed you saying your a mechanic so you probably already know everything i just wrote.. But i could talk and talk about drag racing =p And as im sure u found out its soo addictive!
  14. Just seen your how too steve, £300 is the same Quote i got... If it stops this annoyance £300 is Nothing lol If my parents allowed me to get a car lift id do it myself... Did u change the spline? Or just have it cleaned up? Hearing ur reply though gave me relief! With my luck it always turns out more serious
  15. Thanks very much steve =) Would you know how expensive? Im plannin to get a whole new clutch assembly next pay day anyway because my clutch doesnt like harsh take offs, or drifting.. And a thrust bearing comes with the kit. Most things i can do myself but i cannot be bothered changing a clutch with just a trolley jack on the drive =p
  16. Is it manual or auto? I drag race my Camaro. Going up that same track for hours on end trying to beat my times. Now ill be honest, iv never drag raced my bmw, but just by adding a Higher ratio rear axle will help you get off the line quicker and get you into the power band faster.. But this is only really good for the 1/4 mile. Normal driving you'll find your top speed is reduced. Id suggest maybe one from an M3... If its auto compliment that axle by considering a stall converter of some sort. If its manual convert it to auto. Trust me when i say autos are better than manuals for drag racing! A stall is when the torque converter locks up under load and you can change this with a stall converter. Most cars have anywhere from 1,000 to 1,400rpm stalls from the factory. The reason a stall converter works is simple.. an engine at 1,200rpm is only making about 80 or so horsepower (on average), but at 3,500rpm it could be making 150 to 200hp, and obviously trying to get a car moving using 150-200hp is going to be much easier than one trying to launch at 80hp or so. Most engines don't make power until 3,000 or so rpm, hence why when you have a higher horsepower engine with a big cam, you need a higher stall speed so the engine is closer to it's "power band" when taking-off from the line, otherwise it will be a !Removed! off the line. Just remember.. 80% of the race is the first 100 feet. If you can't get off the line, you are going to lose the race.
  17. Hi guys Iv yet another problem with the money pit... Some of you may of read that iv got a problem with my clutch.. Most likely the thrust bearing! Now would this cause the following: This isnt the first time this has happen btw.. Had to go visit my Grandad today in Dagenham / Barking today so blasted the car up the M25, had the windows open through dartford tunnel (im sure im not the only one who does this =p ) and got to the junction by the barking flyover all well and good, car ran beautifully! Until i stopped at the lights... Sat there waiting for the green light the engine just cut out... I started it up moved forward in the queue, stopped and it cut out again. Once restarted it was as though it was in 'limp' for the rest of the journey, struggling to accelerate. At 3000rpm too the engine stuttered. Clutch wasnt slipping either btw. Got to my grandads and did minor checks.. Oil level, coolant, engine breathers, traction connections etc, everything was fine. When it came to leave the car ran fine again, no problems until i got to the traffic lights before getting back on the M25 home when it cut out again. Started it up and back in Limp mode! All the way to the other end of dartford bridge where i decided to stop. Had to reverse at one point and then it was all fine again all the way home.. Just to add, here are my other problems incase its them: Valve Cover Gasket leaking, Possible head gasket leak. Please help me guys this is driving me absolutley mad!
  18. I apologise if this topic isnt in the correct place, but i was wondering if anyone knows about this.. A couple years ago i went to an anormous midnight cruise on the long stretch of road that runs down beside the excel centre and London city airport. No joke there was probably 500 cars all parked up on one side and the other was for drag racing... I staggered upon this on the way home from the Chelsea Cruise once whilst in my Camaro and joined in. Never found out its regularity.. Does anybody know? Because this was one of the best nights of my life!
  19. Through Facebook initially but finally join through google. This forum thingy is so addictive!
  20. All happening next Sunday =) got a machanic mate doing the check but either way im changing the valve seal. Even toying in changing the head gasket too whilst its half apart because its drinking a bit of water too, and atleast then i can have a visual of the pistons...
