  1. ABS light is a common fault matey ;)

I just hope it aint the ECU thats at fault and its just a sensor, i read in the common faults page something about the solder points.... i had this issue on my 1st Fiat Bravo fortunately i guy off the BOO forum knew how to fix them....

How likely is ti to be this....

    Antilock Braking System:

-Faulty ABS pump motor relays manufactured prior to May ’96 can trigger the ABS warning light.

  2. Welcome Ray, only been here 1 day myself just got a 320i SE, I had been looking at a few 5's myself, found a few 520s in the £900 region on Trader... must admit the 528i auto is rather heavy on the juice but if an auto is required due to injury not much you can do.....

  3. Thanks for the welcomes....

The car was\is the best example of a 320 that was for sale under £600 currently on any of the used car sites, took me 3mths of waiting searching to find this... almost had a 328i in December but someone beat me to it... anyways paid £360 for the car and the 320 needs some work, welds on the rear jacking points 9will be done this weekend) and the ABS Light is on so need to diag which sensor is at fault.... totally solid arches and panels paintwork is fantasic for age, the grey leather needs tarting up with a clean otherwise its spot on...

  4. Karl, Do you intend to keep the car? If so get yaself onto ebay, Buy carsoft diagnostics for your lap top, You will be able to decode faults reset service lights etc, all for about £25!

Hi Ian, thanks for the reply yes i intend to keep the 320 its going to be the family car... the software you mention i had a look for on Ebay i found the below but it seems to refer to E38 and so on but no mention of E36...

I would buy this today if i can be reassured that it will read the ABS fault and reset the service\oil intervals after i service the car....

  5. Hi all,

I have just bought a 320i SE (1994) the ABS light comes on after driving a few meters, i understand this means there is a fault with a sensor... does anyone know of a Mobile Diag company in the Preston, Lancs area...

The car has no MOT at the moment hence need someone mobile, i have priced the ABS sensors and found a place for less than £25 each....

I also have a question about the service light, service is due soon does it reset itself or do i need to have it reset...

Any help would be appreciated, i will have a search through the forum for these issues aswell.
