  1. Hi All.... update on the abs issue.... i managed to replace both front sensors drivers side was a right ##### the bolt snapped leaving the thread in.. the sensor snapped in half so i ended up stripping the disc off snapping my 16mm socket, forced the old sensor out it was obviously the original sensor it had a metal sleeve around the sensor which had welded itself.. any how got it out in the end new one is in... turned the ignition and abs light comes on and then goes out everything looks ok until i drive a meter or two and the abs light comes on ..... guess it may be a rear sensor gonna replace them and take it from there just hope it aint the ecu....

  2. Hello Juego, welcome to the site... only been here a week or so myself but peeps are friendly and welcoming... recently got a 320i SE myself where are you located... im in Preston Lancs....

  3. Hi All,

Ok so i have received the 1.3.6 BMW Software scanner and serial cables... the install completed and i had the ignition ON, started the program and ran a check but all i get is "no communication with unit"... see screen shot below... i have it set to com port 1 and optimised for 2000\XP....... What am i doing wrong or is it that this scanner just does not work with my ECU........?????

  4. +1 ... It has to be on lol

... And the installation has to followed to a "T" !

Hi, yes the ignition was switched on, the install of 1.4.0 software completed, however on start up there was a couple of error messages regards writing to disk figured out that the contents of the disc need to be copied locally and run the install from c:\ location, Started the program and the tried to do a scan but absolutely nothing was found. Version 1.3.6 should be with me tomorrow which has the serial cables rather than the USB which was sent with 1.4.0....

  5. hi any1 now y my 316i wont start when it hot but ok when cooled down n also idle control valve that is bolted to the throttle body can it be cleaned ........

Hi Simon, You would be better posting this in the 3 series forum... new to bmw and this site myself but im sure others will have a suggestion.

  6. Hi all, hope everyone is well....

I'll be cracking on with the 320 (E36) today.... but before i start i have no diag software because the stuff i received from ebay yesterday was not as described here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-PC-CAR-DIAGNOSTIC-SCANNER-CODE-READER-PA-SOFT-1-3-6-/150771202591?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item231aa9fa1f#ht_2006wt_952 i received software version 1.4.0 and only the cables that use USB connection....

I have tried them and the software\scanner cannot scan\recognise anything each result is not found......contacted seller so i'm waiting on a responce...

So today i'll be stripping down the front and rear brakes checking ABS sensors for any wear on the cables cleaning brakes and parts... take off the exhaust and replace with new one but ill have to grind that off...any tips on removing very rusty bracket on the back box where the rubber mounting point is?

  7. Yea i got a tribal full sleeve which is unfinished and the t**t that did it assulted my Mrs so it wont be getting finished by him... i dont even want it on me anymore but it will cost 1000s to get removed... possible i could make it look different so not his work but it'll still be there in the end........

  8. Karl it will be a sensor IMO or just a sensor needs cleaning

I !Removed! hope so... the MOT centre said the n/s front brake was weaker than the other so i'll start there me thinks... cant wait for the weekend so i can get my hands dirty, 1st to grind off the bolts on the exhaust where it joins the cat back, then weld up the jacking points on the rear and check the brakes.... once thats done its off to the MOT shop again.....
