  1. Ok thanks, how do I access my headunit settings?
  2. Hello I have recently bought an aux in cable to fit to my 53 plate facelift e46 320d. This is meant to plug in to the back of my professional CD head unit. I have plugged it in and it has had no effect. The cable supplier said sometimes the feature needs to be unlocked by BMW. Is this true and has anyone had any experience fitting this cable to their head unit? Thanks
  3. Put 10L in and some easy start and after struggling and pressing the throttle down with ignition on n off it chugged some black smoke out struggled idling for abit so i held at 2000rpm for afew minutes took it round the block and touch wood it seems ok so far
  4. Hello, I have owned my e46 53 plate 320d for 13 months now it has 162k on the clock it's had a full engine rebuild with the swirl flaps removed, 3 new pistons, need turbo new clutch new dual mass flywheel the lot. Last thursday i was going up a slight incline with 34 miles left in the fuel tank when the DDE light came on on the dash its then went into limp mode and i made to pull over in a safe place as is cut out. I then went to start it again and it turns over but just won't spark instead of coming straight to the forum i read up on this and troubleshooted. i started by take the pipe off the fuel fuilter to see if it was pumping through the filter ok and to see if the pump works and it does so then i changed the relay for the pre diesel supply pump behind the glovebox with the horn relay (same part) and that didnt change anything. So now 8I'm leading towards the pressure regulator on the end of the rail. They retail at 130+ VAT trade at my local parts dealer. So heres where the help of the forum comes in before i part with that money to find it isn't that i'm looking for anymore tests i can do or any other things it could be a could check before changing it. I have software on the way to read and clear codes and i have had some already which mentions fuel rail pressure being a problem.
  5. Fixed! for people that have this problem later on. I removed the rear engine cover by removing the pollen filter the cover was held with spring clips remove the filter then torx30 bolts (4 of them) held the inner casing on. Then a further 2 torx 30 bolts held the secondary bulkhead/ pollen filter housing on. Then the read engine cover was just the 6mm allen keys (i think) 4 of them held it on then i cleared the diesel up started it up to find the source of the leak. In my case it was the rubber stopper on the top of the injector hose. The braided pipe was also wet so i just picked a diesel leak off pipe kit from halfords which cost me £4.47 with my trade card i undid the injector wiring which need a e6 socket (2bolts) unclipped the circlip on the fourth injector replaced the rubber stopper and cut the braided hose to size replaced that then put in all back in order took for a 40 min test drive and i seem to be diesel and smoke free inside the cabin and the engine bay.
  6. So the whole cover is off there is diesel from the last injector on the cover how do i know weather it is the injector, seal or leak off pipe?
  7. The swirl flaps got dragged through the engine for the rebuild the turbo went and the clutch and flywheel were changed due to wear and tear i guess. i got some key tools from work and whipped the rocker cover off and the injectors look fine until i looked at the last one right at the back underneath the secondary bulkhead. I need a better look to see if it is the seals or injector what wud be the best/most convinient way of getting to it?
  8. okie dokie ill have a look at the weekend or tomorrow because all my tools are at work. Hopefully it'll be an easy fix as i've not had it too long.
  9. So i brought a bmw 320d e46 back in january it had 145k on the clock but has has a full engine rebuild (inc. 3 new pistons) a new turbo, clutch and flywheel and has been serviced regularly. It's now on 151k and i was driving on a relatively short journey when i noticed at a set of lights smokes was coming through me bonnet and the top and when i could i pulled over and check smoke was coming out from under the engine cover from the top right (exhaust manifold side) i let it stand for awhile before starting it again and by the time i got home smoke was coming from the heather vents and it smokes of fuel quite strong. Could it be a crack in the turbo/exhaust manifold? or something different? Is it a costly job? Any help is much appreciated thanks.
  10. sound, i picked mine up yesterday it is sweet haha love it!
