the temp gauge and fuel gauge went mental the other day while i was driving. on further investigation i had lost break light as well. so being well impressed, i started looking to find the problem. which turned out to be all down to fuse 46. i was told it could be a number of things, and i would need to take the car to an auto electrictain (expensive). as i said i investigated and i think i fixed the problem.

1) i pulled the fuse (15 amp).

2) i put in a new fuse. which blown after about 10 seconds.

3) i put in an 20 amp fuse. at this point i was starting to think the circuit had short.

4) circuit worked fine. replaced with the right fuse (15 amp).

i'm thinking that the original fuse looked old and the first replacement i put in was the same style and in the fuse box lid. the one i finally used to replace the blown one was a new one. so as said, although i have been told its a common problem, maybe old fuses is equally as common.

Hmmm a fuse is usually, just a fuse. Old or New. If the problem is solved, cool but if it comes back you will have to take it to an auto-electrician if your not handy with electric concepts

yeah. i'm thinking i will end up getting in an auto electrician in. however during this time of being well skint (the same as everybody), i will be trying to avoid that as long as possible.
