hi guys newbie here

just picked up a x5 3.0d sport

im not new to bmw's so was very aware of what i was going to get in terms of build etc

what i wasnt prepared for was the fuel consumption

holy mother does it like a drink, had a range rover td6 few years back so was really expecting it to be better than that

i have a E39 M5 so im use to regular pump visits but just feel abit let down by the x5's fuel usage

in any case what im looking to get abit more knowledge on is the egr delete

i did this years back on a 530d i had

i know the engine is a derivitive of the the M57 which was in the 530d

this being the M57N2 on the x5 with 218bhp , can it support the egr bypass also? has anyone done this on here

ant feedback would be much appreciated

Hi mate and welcome can't help with the egr issues but can say I had the 4.6 v8 and was getting about 15 mpg now have a 3.5 7 series and get 28 to 30 mpg

Swap it for a 4.4 or 4.6 petrol running LPG you don't get anymore MPG but at 73p a litre it's easy to live with, I get around 200 miles on a tank of LPG (better on the motorway with cruise control in) and a tankful costs between £40 and £45 dependent on where I fill up.

Plus no potential turbo or EGR issues.

I don't know what you're expecting from the X5 , but mine is better than my friends 3 yr old Disco .

I've got a 2005 3.0d re-mapped with 272PS and 525NM and my fuel economy is better now than

when it was standard .

Before i was getting 26/28 on the school run etc and max 32/4 on a run .

Now I get 28/29 round town , and I've had over 40 on a run with cruise on 145kmh .

I think I'm getting between 700/1000 kms from a tank .

I've not bypassed the EGR but I think I read somewhere that it can be done , and it's

especially fruitful if you do a lot of town driving coz it gets clogged up quite quickly .

I too own a X5 3.0 Diesel Sport, a 2006 model. A friend introduced me to a product call **content blocked**.

Very affordable, and I decided to give it a go.

My X5 is now smoother, has better performance and the economy is much better.

Used **content blocked** for over 10,000 miles, and achieving almose 40MPG on the motorway, and 35.7 MPG combined motorway & town.

Drive reasonably conservatively, and normally do 80-miles an hour on the open road.

All I can say is try **content blocked** !
