E90 Towing Eye Fitting - Quick Question

Hi all,

I've got a 2008 330d and I'm struggling to get the towing eye cover off to fit the towing eye ready for a trackday tomorrow.

The manual just says to push on the top corners to remove it, but it just bends and I'm concerned about applying more force.

Does anyone know if there is a trick to it or something?

    The back one won't come out, but I managed to get the front one out, albeit in the process breaking a retaining clip, doh!
