Hi Fellas, Ive sorted the ABS senors and now I need some advice for my 1994 3201 SE Auto. The little rascal has just failed the mot on the CO2 emissions test (too high) the tester said I should change the two sensors on the exhaust first before I get involed with the Cat. Are these called LAMBDA Sensors? Are they both called the same? Are they easy to change and where are they? Any tips please? Also it failed on the number plate lights not working, I moved the wire by the boot lid stay and a fuse blew.I can probaly find this but any tips would be helpful. Cheers

If its a E36 BMW then the follow applys

Right Number plate lamp, Where the boot lid comes up you will see the wiring is shrink wrapped, undo this and you will find the wires have broken, easy fix, re join the wires!

Lambda sensors, replace with new one(dont buy cheap ones), and on the way to the re rest give the car a damn good hard drive!! CATS work better when they are hot,

Post up the emmsion readings and i will shed some light on it for you

Co2

H Carbons etc

I have had to do exactly the smae on mine and there is only one sensor

Cheers. Have you any tips on changing the sensor? the main problem I can see is the one I have bought seems to be a universal fitting that you have to cut off the original connector and soldier it to the new sensor. I hope the colour code is the same. And by the way mine is six cylinders.

Hi All,

Managed to get through the MoT. Changed the sensor (its only got one) If anyone has to do the same I would recommend using the offset Lambda socket. See photo. Also I bought the sensor from LAMBDA POWER. See photo. They were really helpful and offered lots of advice. Tip: If you do have to ask about the sensor try to have the MoT failure form with you and the failure figures.

Thanks to all who replied.
