The rear wheel camber angle has turned out to be too negative after replacement of shock absorber and some connecting arms on my BMW - 740i, 4,4 liter, 1997. It is not possible to adjust the camber angle correctly using the adjustment bolt and I think is it necessary to do some kind of correction where suspension arms are connected to the chassis.

Does anyone have experience in this field to share?

Thank you.

Did you replace both shocks? Are they standard?

As for the camber, not sure as they are live axles and should sit with a decent negative camber... Are the springs ok (not broken or weak)?

Thank you Dabsy,

Both shocks and springs are brand new and have standard design. However the springs are a little stronger than the standard BMW springs. I think the camber is defined primarily by the suspension arms and connections.

The only way the camber is affected on the rears is by worn bushes and/or "bent" components as it is factory set... Even on the fronts, you only need to adjust "Toe-in/out" as the McPherson Strut takes care of the camber (If fitted correctly!).
