Cannot give you a definitive answer on that one John...

They were fitted to the heavier models in countries reknowned for uneven roads, and even then, the plate was either plastic or thin steel. It's only purpose was to protect the sump.

Many owners decided to remove them for ease of access and air-flow !!

My car has one.
