I am thinking of changing my 630 Touring for an X5 to avoid last years marooning in the snow. My wife has a 630i so between us a couple of inches of snow in Sheffield renders us house bound.

Can someone please tell me the height of the open tailgate above the ground as this is very important for my still fit but ageing labrador?

    hi mate its about 3ft off the ground not sure if that would differ with smaller wheels mine has 20"

    Many thanks for that. bit of a shock. My touring is about 55cm and you are saying 91cm. Better start training the dog or it will have to be an Audi Quattro!
