I always wondered why beemer wheels get so filthy. I finally got my own now, a 535I, 2010 model. I am observing a transparent fluid on the rims, is this common? anything i can do to avoid it so i can keep my wheels clean?

FLUID?

No fluid, except rain, should be on the rims...

Stick your finger in the fluid and rub between the thumb, if it is slimey then you have a brake-fluid leak...

good to know, the stuff is greesy and sticky, its very clear. So wasn't sure brake fluid is clear color. I might have to take it back to the dealer.

Only dirt that should be on the wheels is brake-dust :S Fluid? it being clear is confusing

Could be an air-con discharge, seen this happen on a Toureg at work !!

If you have just bought the car it could be something that the Valet bay may have sprayed on as they prepped it for collection, i would certainly take it back to the dealer and enquire about it as its certainly not normal

you should not have any fluid on your wheels - could be brake fluid - get it checked out asap

welcome to the club mate

as for the clear fluid on wheels as said in early post could be tyre dressing if it has been through valet !!
