I accidentally discovered how to start my car without the key inserted (Push button starter).

If i put the key in Start the engine like normal then switch off the engine remove the key put it in my pocket then start the engine again every time it works.

You can do this until you lock the doors then it seems to arm whatever the key unarms. It also stops working after the engine has been off for a period of time.

Anyone know anything about this?

Andy

Does it work after you have opened and closed the door?

Does it work after you have opened and closed the door?

TBH i dont know but i think the steering lock kicks in after i open the door without the fob in the dash

Try this... Start it with the key then stop and remove key... Then start with the button and leave it running, get out with your key in your pocket (Engine running) and walk away making sure there are no thieving twats around!!

I think its the transponder in the key that allows this function !! B)

One step ahead of you already tried it.........IT WORKS lol

Did it shut off when you walked far enough away?

I sat in the car gave my mate the fob and he walked across the road (at least 3 car widths away) the car was still running lol

Try further lol or drive away to see how far you get without the keys

i have driven without the key in the hole but i had it on me. You suggest an interesting experiment though lol

Looking forward to the funny results when you get about a mile away and have to walk back

It won't make a difference, it will run till switched off without key.

It won't switch off at a certain distance unless your car has keyless entry/start, which it don't.

Also it ill stop start, stop start after the first start stop until you have opened the door because it has already paired the key with the car and the ignition don't shut fully off till you open the door.

Yeah I know....Im Godwink.gif

Yes you are... Wanting some results for a laff tho !!
