If I purchase my vehicle excise license online (Tax Disc), can I use the vehicle immediately or would I still be liable to a Fixed Penalty for not displaying a valid RFL ?

Damn my van tax runs out today I have to do mine online now tonight

Does say on the website.. so long as you buy it before the old one expires you can still use the vehicle for upto 5 days after till the new one arrives.

I actually.drove.around for.six.months with the old one as.lost it. It funnily turned up when I sold it lol

ANPR Cameras mounted to the vehicles can't tell if it is being shown but only what the DVLA report it to be so, you could probably get away wit NOT changing the tax disc un till you get pulled or you live in an area that is controlled for parking. It is an offence to drive without a valid one on display and Caz's findings are a descretional policy :) nice one Caz
